10 Things I Hate About You isn't up there with Can't Hardly Wait or American Pie as a quintessential 90s teen comedy, but it made enough of a mark that a remake is being filmed.

Well, not a remake so much as a spinoff: TTIHAY director Gil Junger has reteamed with producer Andrew Lazar on 10 Things I Hate About Life, starring Evan Rachel Wood. Filming began in 2012 and will resume in December after an extended break.

The original 10 Things introduced the world to Heath Ledger and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (oh yeah, and Julia Stiles and Gabrielle Union). A short-lived TV version aired on ABC Family in 2009 and 2010.

The new feature sees Wood and Thomas McDonell (Fun Size) playing a guy and a girl who meet right as both are about to commit suicide.

Um, this is a comedy, right?
