James Franco, Matthew McConaughey, "12 Years A Slave" Get Awards From Gay And Lesbian Film Critics Association

Getting a jumpstart on the Oscars, the Gay & Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association (GALECA) gave out its top honors this week, bestowing its Dorian Awards on a variety of films, TV shows and personalities.

12 Years a Slave picked up Film of the Year, beating out Gravity, Her, Dallas Buyers Club and Blue is the Warmest Color, which took home both LGBT Film of the Year and Foreign-Language Film of the Year. Also losing out on the top spot was Laurence Anywaysa lesser-known movie from queer filmmaker Xavier Dolan that follows the doomed romance between Frederique and her boyfriend Laurence, who reveals his desire to live as a woman.

In the television categories, Behind the Candelabra and Orange is the New Black tied for TV Drama of the Year, while American Horror Story Coven was crowned Campy TV Show of the Year.

Other winners included James Franco, Laverne Cox and Lily Tomlin, who received a Timeless Award, which honors a performer "whose exemplary career is marked by character, wisdom and wit."
