Alex Newell reprises his character Unique in tonight's episode of Glee to perform an amazing cover of "I Know Where I've Been" from the musical Hairspray alongside a "200-person, proud, strong, transgender choir."

The groundbreaking performance highlights Coach Bieste's (Dot Marie Jones) journey coming out as a transgender man, a plot point that has quickly become an anchor for the show's sixth and final season.

"Unique is back to make a little bit of a visit, and she's there to support Bieste and be that rock," Newell says of the episode titled "Transitioning" in an exclusive preview clip from ET. "There is so much heart in this episode."

"It's incredibly uplifting working with this choir," executive producer Dante DiLoreto added. "This isn't about tolerance, it's about coming home and coming home to who you really are, and who you're meant to be and who you're meant to be with."

Check out a preview of the amazing performance below, and catch the new episode when it airs tonight at 9pm on Fox.
