America's Next Top Journalist?
“I really just did the show as a joke!”
That’s what kick-ass and openly gay America's Next Top Model alumnus Kim Stolz (pictured, second from left) told us when we ambushed her lovingly on the corner of the dance floor at the after-party of the New York GLAAD Media Awards Monday night. We quizzed her on what’s coming next for her and she clued us in. “I never really wanted to be a model,” Stolz laughed. “I just thought I’d try it for fun.” And lord knows we all had fun watch Kim act up on the Season 5, snogging the random costar and serving some killer (and gay-riffic) grrrl attitude. Since her departure from the series last year, we’ve seen Kim around NYC here and there, and she’s even turned up as a DJ as some crazy-ass Brooklyn hipster parties.
But what’s next for Kim? Is she gonna keep spinning records, or chasing an acting career? “Right now I’m spending half my time pursuing gay and lesbian issues, working on that cause…” said the big-eyed (and very sweet) reality-TV survivor. “But I’m also really interested in pursuing journalism. You know, I went to Wesleyan. So, I’ve been talking to some people about possibilities at some TV news outlets.” Last night Kim was hanging with her gal pals from the lesbian monthly magazine, Go! NYC so maybe she’s on the right track. [Pictured above with Kim are her friends--from left--Devon, Adrian and Laura.]
Hmmm… Anchorwoman Kim sounds pretty killer. Or I'd wanna see her wielding a microphone, scooping stories in a hot newsy ensemble, while battling for the LGBT cause in her spare time.
Film at 11.
