Cutting Up with Scissor Sisters

Live (on tape!) from Logo world headquarters. It's the 40% of the Scissor Sisters. Photos by Robin Roemer.

This past Friday, two-fifths (and two out of the three gay fifths, mind you) of the Scissor Sisters stopped by the Logo studios. Frontman Jake Shears and musical bear BabyDaddy popped by to chat about their new album, Ta-Dah, which gets released on September 26th. Their new video, that album’s debut single, “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’” is already airing on Logo (and just about everywhere else)... But tune in and get some fun dish from Jake Shears and Baby Daddy about the process of making this new album, and more when they'll be hosting NewNowNext Music on Sunday, September 24th at midnight. They'll be gabbing about all manner of things musical and mystical.

Ta-Dah! Check out our new album, y'all...

Here are a few teaser tidbits:

- Jake still lives in his same old “postage-stamped” NYC apartment. He says that success hasn’t changed his too much. “We’re just busier!”

- Jake and BabyDaddy describe the sound of Ta-Dah as a mix of all the different genres of music they love. “There are dance songs, ballads, honky-tonk—all of that. That’s our sound!”

- Jake says that the ordeal of having to produce music videos is “a pain in the ass” and “a necessary evil.” And commenting on the edgy, low-budget style of the Scissor Sisters videos Babydaddy cracked: “It took a lot of money to make our videos look so cheap!”

And Jake also talks about his decision to be “out” in music from day one: “If you’re totally honest about who you are, you’ve got nothing to lose.”

Go Scissors!
