Whites Shoes Rule?
They’re not just for nurses (or your Grandpa in Boca) anymore. Yep, white shoes (we’re talking Adidas Stan Smiths, classic Nike Air Force Ones and other such paragons of vanilla virtue) are what’s hot in fashion-land, folks. Marc Jacobs wore his pristinely white Stan Smiths on Oprah recently, and other sartorial types are also opting for the snow-toned sneaker this season.
They go with anything, and I’m all for ease when figuring out what to put on in the morning. And you can get cheap versions (think Converse, Vans) or high-end takes on the shoe (Dries Van Noten, Prada).
However, don’t let your bright whites get scuffed up. You’ll terrify the very sensitive Dan Peres, editor of Details, who tells the NY Times:
“Some people do everything they can to make them look worn and dirty, which is wrong. I’ve seen fashion editors in the Tuileries Gardens in Paris, shuffling their feet in the dirt to make their Chucks look worn in. I just stood there in horror.”
Now, get out your tootbrush and scrub those sneaks!
