Hidden Palms – Kevin Williamson’s New Series
Ohh...And we have Kevin to thank for this!
While I’m sobbing about the demise of Veronica Mars, my favorite teenage show since Freaks and Geeks, I can grab a tissue and suck it up because there’s a glimmer of hope on the horizon.
Hidden Palms premieres May 30th on The CW. This is Kevin Williamson’s new show. He’s the openly-gay writer who introduced meta-fiction into the realm of TV and horror films with Dawson’s Creek and Scream. I will proudly admit to having watched every episode of Dawson’s Creek.
But it’s not just because I love teenagers (though I do) or horror, (though I do) it’s that Williamson treats these subjects with the dignity they deserve. He makes my guilty pleasures feel acceptable because there’s a brain behind them.
Hidden Palms seems like it just might be an awesome combination of Twin Peaks and Dawson’s Creek: a love triangle, dark secrets, Williamson’s pitch-perfect dialogue and the superficially constructed world of Palm Springs.
So goodbye Veronica, but howdy Johnny, Greta and Cliff. I’ll see you Wednesday!

Farewell VMars... The last episode yesterday was definitely a little sad -- esp w the return of Jake Kane (and the portraits of Lily and Duncan). It felt like a whole story arc of which we only got to see a quick glimpse. I'll miss that little Veronica. Sigh...
