The Beautiful Screams of Kristeen Young

Kristeen Young (the band) features drummer Jeff White and singer Kristeen Young; She's now touring with Moz. Cool, eh?
It’s not just anyone who can impress Morrissey, that legendarily morose – and celibate – crooner from Manchester. But Kristeen Young, which is not just one person but actually a pair of upstart, glam-ish rockers from St. Louis, have managed to win his damaged and fickle heart. The crown prince of mope rock has handpicked them to be the supporting act throughout his current tour.
Question is, will the last of the famous international playboys hate it when his friends become hugely successful?
Kristeen Young are a piano and drums duo, composed of the coveniently named pianist/keyboardist/vocalist Kristeen Young, and drummer "Baby" Jeff White. Sure, they offer hints of that other Midwestern girl/boy twosome, the White Stripes. But what really strikes ears, like a Steinway tossed from the ninth floor, is how Kristeen Young echoes the dramatic vocals of Kate Bush and the piano chutzpah of early Tori Amos.
More on Kristeen Young -- and "Breasticles" -- after the jump!

Kristeen Young's "Kill The Father" single; and her Frida meets Warhol promo shot, circa 2002.
Their operatic and Oedipal new single "Kill the Father" delivers sonic balm for creative people of any stripe who know that, in order to create, sometimes you have to destroy. Jeff pummels his drums, while Kristeen wails like a banshee - and Siouxsie, too - to announce the downfall of yesterday’s rock idols, like Prince and Led Zeppelin and Blondie. Please don’t tell Marc Jacobs.
When Kristeen urges listeners to “strangle Bowie with his neckerchief,” though, she’s probably just jawshing. She sang a duet with Iman’s man on her previous album, "Breasticles." Unlike neuticles, the cosmetic implants for neutered pets, breasticles are not yet for sale, except as music from Kristeen Young. Both "Breasticles" and Kristeen Young's new full length, "The Orphans," were produced by Tony Visconti, the legend who sprinkled all that glitter and gold on Bowie, T. Rex, and, yes, Morrissey.
Full of bombast, noise and at least one promo shot that predicts what would have happened if Frida Kahlo had visited Warhol's Factory for a screen test, Kristeen Young and their bestest Billy Budd, Morrissey, could be coming to a stage near you.
Whoever wrote this must be a bumbling idiot.....
