HBO Short Films: Dads & Moms Queer It Up!

Come to DADDY: "Ummm... Does this baby bump make me look fat, Dude?"

Hey film-watchers! When you’re not dashing out to see Ratatouille or Die Hard 12 or horny films with pouty bed-hopping ambisexual French youths this weekend, turn your TV to HBO on Demand and you can watch a quartet of queer short films. But hurry, it’s their last weekend.

The series is called Shout and features the winners of a contest that HBO hosted looking for great short screenplays with LGBT themes. The winners got to make their movies, and you can watch them. They’re also getting featured at gay film-fests all over this summer.

I liked Daddy, and it’s not about what you think. Simply put, after a one-night stand a nice gay fellow starts to suspect he might be pregnant. Think of it as a very short, homo Knocked Up.

More on Daddy and HBO's other queer shorts after the jump.

Daddy's poster, and the Happenstance cast. What ARE those ladies up to, eh?

Another of the four films is Happenstance, wherein a “guess who’s coming to dinner” sort of get-together includes a cool and messy queer twist.

Props to HBO for giving queer filmmakers a platform, eh? Of course, you can also plug in to Logo, who are constantly featuring queer shorts all over the place. And you know you look hot in shorts this time of year...
