Video Lunch: Patrick Wolf - "Accidents & Emergency"
Even though South London-native Patrick Wolf’s album, The Magic Position, came out just last month, he’s already got another one in the works for 2008 – and he’s ready to get all political on us Americans.
He told NME.com, “I'm starting to feel like there are no Joni Mitchells in our generation. There are no Bob Dylans. There's no one speaking about things in an articulate, artistic human way. I kind of feel it's my duty.”
Well, good for him. Although, in a very Mika-ish way, he won’t disclose his sexuality (although I have my opinions after seeing his Rainbow Brite-esque outfit in this video), and that's totally a political issue, right?
More on the life and times of Patrick...and his tour dates after the jump.
Patrick’s only 23, but he’s no musical newbie: He plays the violin, ukulele and even the theremin (?), and his albums, along with his previous Lycanthropy and Wind in the Wires, consistently get good reviews.
Magic Position is definitely Patrick’s most pop-y production; Lycanthropy was much rougher, with lyrics concerning rape and self-mutilation, but now he's all about peace, love and hope.
Patrick is touring all over the world right now (he recently finished up in the U.S., supporting Amy Winehouse from time to time), and is set to perform at Glastonbury Festival on June 23.

Hmm...i don't know what to think of this guy? I like his fashion sense very out there, funky, groovy. I need to hear some of his music though. He seems like a brave person to me.

'He won’t disclose his sexuality (although I have my opinions after seeing his Rainbow Brite-esque outfit in this video),'???
Surely if you’re trying to write about ‘gay pop culture’ you should know better than to judge people’s sexuality based on appearances? You seem to overlook the important fact that not all gay people fulfil stereotypes and that even when people do possess characteristics perceived to be indicative of these stereotypes, that doesn’t always mean they are actually gay.
Patrick has, in several interviews, talked openly about his sexuality, disclosing the information that he is attracted to people of both genders, so the very statement that ‘he won’t disclose his sexuality’ is, in fact, unfounded. At least try and get your facts right before writing an article.
However, I suppose it would be unfair of me to assume that an article would contain accurate content when the title itself is incorrect. The title of the song is actually ‘Accident and Emergency,’ not ‘Accidents and Emergency,’ as you wrote. No ‘s’ required. A minor mistake, but a mistake nonetheless.
Really not impressed with this article – badly informed and misrepresentative of the legend himself.

Ohhkay... he has disclosed his sexuality actually. He's actually said the way Mika's gone about the subject is cowardly. He's had relationships with women as well as men though he's said the label of 'bisexual' isn't quite accurate for him.
