Oh, Snap! Pedro Andrade Shakes It Up! Who Wants a "Dirty Pedro???"
Back in 2004, Pedro graced the cover of NYC's Next Magazine. Cheers!
Good morning, folks! There's been bits and pieces on the World Wide Web in the past few days about Lance Bass' new squeeze, NYC-based model Pedro Andrade. And hey, I think Pedro's a total peach! Sure, he's breath-takingly good-looking and all... But Lance is also lucky because Pedro's a super-nice guy.
The shots here were taken for Next Magazine (the local gay bar mag here in NYC) back in January of 2004. I was editor-in-chief of the magazine then, and photographer Richard Mitchell and I were rounding up some of the city's hottest gay bartenders to shoot for our annual fitness issue. Pedro kindly agreed to volunteer. (Yep, we coudn't even pay him... Sad, but true.) And the results were killer!
How to make a "Dirty Pedro," and another soakin' good pic after the jump!
Pedro Andrade, circa 2004. Shaken... And very stirring.
I don't think Pedro's as busy behind the bar these days; undoubtedly he's got bigger fish to fry. But if you've been going out for the last few years at all, chances are Pedro's served you a drink. He used to work at the old Opaline on Avenue A for the crazy Friday night parties they had; and he moved uptown with the club when it migrated to the old Shelter space on 39th Street. He's also worked at Boysroom and Barrage and XL. And whenever, wherever he worked, he always had a big smile and something nice to say.
For the Next article, we asked the bartenders a bunch of goofy questions. In so doing, we learned that Pedro is originally from Rio, he goes to the gym about 5 times per week (it was a fitness issue, after all...), and that he has a weakness for mashed potatoes.
Here's a bit more from the dopey questionnaire from that issue, with Pedro's cute responses:
How is having a good body important to your work?
The better the body, the better the tips. :)
What's the best drink you make?
I love making shots. I also like what they do to people.
What's your favorite drink -- and why?
Grey Goose + a little bit of soda + a little bit of olive juice in a tall glass full of ice and olives... Dirty Martinis are a bit too hardcore, so this is a lighter version. My friends call it a "Dirty Pedro."
What's the most bizzare thing that's happened to you while you've been bartending?
Christina Aguilera ordering a bunch of drinks and not tippping me at all!
Hmmm... Maybe if Pedro bumps into Xtina, he can finally collect that tip...
Meanwhile, Pedro's been modeling for years, popping up in glamorous campaigns and ads and magazines. And he's done lots of TV work, both in his native Brazil and here in NYC. Now he's doing fun reporting for LX.TV, which you can find here. And you can watch a very sweet, sad and lovely short film starring Pedro (made by filmmaker Jarrah Gurrie) called Companionist, in which Pedro pines for a lost boyfriend. Awwww...
Speaking of which, Pedro's also had a couple of really nice, and really HOT boyfriends. When I met him he was dating DJ Scotty Thompson; they were serious for quite a while... And then he dated fellow model and PR agent, TJ Allers, and the pair even appeared on the cover of that Advocate issue all about "gay pheromones" a while back. So, Pedro's always had a handsome guy on his arm.

Anyway, good things couldn't happen to a better guy. Congrats Lance! You scored big this time. And congrats, Pedro! Best wishes to you both...
