Peek-a-Boo: New Music from Siouxsie Sioux

Siouxsie may have transformed into a swan, but she'll always be our queen of the darkness.
Jeepers! The original goth chick and ringmistress of the creepshow, Siouxsie Sioux, plans to release her debut solo album, Mantaray, in the United States on October 2.
Granted, a debut may sound like a strange concept for a performer born in 1957, when she was named Susan Janet Ballion, but this latest effort marks the first time Siouxsie is venturing without the company of either The Creatures or the Banshees. Siouxsie and the Banshees, of course, was one of the most innovative and influential rock bands of the last 30 years, with lineups that included Sid Vicious and Robert Smith at various times.
You can already peer through the looking glass to glimpse the video for Siouxsie’s forthcoming lead single, “Into a Swan.” The song rocks full throttle and with greater heft than Bashees material, but its weight is not surprising from a woman who began her career as a Sex Pistols devotee. Although she has wisely toned down the severe make-up and fetish gear she championed in 1981, she looks at least as hot as Madonna, a contemporary who also proves there is sexy life on stage for women near 50.
Judging from the lyrics to “Into a Swan,” Siouxsie feels strong, transformed and in control. Let’s dedicate this one to Whoopi Goldberg today.
you can't fuck with siouxsie. listen and learn.
