Who’s Playing Where? August 31st – September 2nd: Deerhunter, Bound Stems and X.
Ben of Band of Horses and the immortal X both play this weekend.
Well, it’s official. Summer is over. It’s your last weekend to catch free summer shows and big summer festivals. After this it’s all free fall shows and fall festivals. Bumbershoot is of course this weekend in Seattle. Highlights include Wu-Tang, The Shins, The Avett Brothers and Art Brut. And it’s not just music folks; it’s also films, comedians (Janeane Garofalo!), writers and a bike rodeo. Phew. The Shins are also playing at the Download Festival in Chicago with Snoop Dogg, Wolf Parade and Band of Horses among others. There's also an awesome sounding DIY festival called Simultaneous Festival in Minneapolis this weekend.
As for me (cause I know you’re dying of curiosity), I’ll be at the free Seaport Music Festival to see Battles and Deerhunter, which should be the perfect way to bid my summer goodbye. But I must admit that I wish I was in LA and could go see X. Lucky dogs.
There ceases to be a point if you don't read the show listings after the jump.
