Openly Gay Judge David Young Gets His Own Courtroom Show!

Justicewithsnap

The judicial system just got a whole lot gayer!

Well, the daytime-TV judge-show world did, at least. On September 10, Sony Pictures Television will premiere Judge David Young, the first courtroom show with an openly gay judge.

Sony, who’s behind shows Judge Hatchett and Judge Maria Lopez, seems to have no problem playing up Young’s fabulousness! and networks don’t have a problem with it either (91 percent in the country have cleared the show to air). Sony describes Judge Young as a man “known for his fierce intelligence and occasional bursts into show tunes.”

Check out the AfterElton.com interview with Judge Young here. (He promises he is no Jack McFarland, but admits he does, in fact, bust out show tunes from time to time.)

More Judge Young after the jump!

Judge Young has years of experience practicing law, but was not out as a prosecutor. When he became a Florida judge years later, he decided early on to be open about it. (On his show, he references his partner, Scott.)

Young got some media attention in 2005 when he ordered jail time for two pilots who tried to fly a plane drunk. He also played a major role in Miami’s Judicial Probation Monitoring program, which works to rehabilitate drug addicts, as opposed to just putting them in jail.

Some gays don’t care for Sony’s somewhat stereotypical image (with that “Justice with a Snap! Slogan and all), but Judge Young promises his show’s more about “therapeutic jurisprudence” and “talking as a human being to another human being,” as opposed to him just being “the gay judge.”

You go, Your Honor!

I am glad to see Maria Lopez gone - boring! But to be replaced with an equally boring gay judge...pushes my limits...right to the channel switcher! Give us a break, we do not need a Liza wannabe dispensing TV justice. Thumbs way down...and yes, they are opposable!

I was wondering what was the deal with The Honorable Judge David Young. When I found out that he was gay I said WOW! It is great to see the success of someone who goes to school, works hard and is abel to bring a level of inteligence to society. More power to you Judge Stay encouraged and keep up the outstanding performance!

I just found out he was gay a few days ago and I was like "OH GOD, REALLY?!" but hey, I personally like his show despite the fact he's gay.

Judge Young. How refreshing to see a judge who is compassionnate and fair. Also funny. He treats most people with respect. And he doesn't tell them in every sentence how much smarter he is than rhe defendants.Of course there are many other great judges.Judge Marilyn and Judge Alex.Just to name a few.Hope judge David will be on a long time.

Juged David Young is an idiot; he searches for prejudice without any proof. he seems more like a racist than anyone. On the Archie bunker case he ripped the white old guy apart for being racist without any proof. I guess in the past it was OK for old white guys to be prejudice against people of different race and sexual orientation, but now its ok for him to be racist; You just joined the prejudice club; I guess you dont see it; sad that the first gay judge is such a FOOL!

Today was the first day Judge Young brought serious tears to my eyes. His compassion and wisdom was truly presented today in court with the two black sistahs. I am a sistah and I love to see it when a Judge goes above and beyond his call of duty for peace and humanity. I am still in tears of joy. Judge Young you are God sent!!!
