Video Lunch: Annie Lennox - "Dark Road"
Annie Lennox described her new album, Songs of Mass Destruction, as the “closest she's been so far to that authentically raw and emotional place.” The acclaimed singer shows fearless, pain and anger in today’s featured video, “Dark Road,” the album’s lead single.
Songs of Mass Destruction will mark the former Eurythmics singer’s fourth solo album, which includes a collaboration track of 23 super-successful female singers, called “Sing.” The album comes out October 2 through Arista Records.
More on Annie's latest...after the jump!
Annie's amazing and who am I to disagree?
Annie gathering 23 huge-name singers for one track is really incredible – but she does have a hefty resume…who wouldn’t say no when Annie Lennox calls?
I’ll admit, when I think Annie Lennox, it’s hard for Sweet dreams are made of this not to come to mind, but the British singer’s musical career definitely goes beyond her time as that suit-wearing, lead singer of the ‘80s duo.
Before her time with the Eurythmics, Annie was the lead singer of the pseudo-succesful British pop band The Tourists for three years. And in 1992, she came out with her first solo album, Diva (which included the fantastic “Walking on Broken Glass”). She later released Medusa, an album of covers, followed by Bare in 2003. Annie also won an Oscar for her work on The Lord of the Rings soundtrack.
