Come with Me to the Land of Lego

Ae1

-- Siege from AfterEllen.com

It's Thursday.  Thursday generally means my brain is fried.  It means I simply can't bring myself to concentrate on the minutia that is my job at the moment.  So, as a result of my bored-brain-fried-state, I am longing for the days when I had no responsibilities, no bills and no adult things to get in the way of my play time.  I am longing for the days when I could sit on the living room floor, dump out the gazillion Lego bricks I had and spend the day lost in fantasy land building whatever the heck I felt like.

Turns out, there are people out there with a significant amount of time on their hands who have never given up on their Lego dreams.  In my meanderings, I able to find not only the obvious things like a Lego Millennium Falcon that brought back memories, but also things the self-proclaimed Lego nerds like to call vignettes.  They look like single comic-book panels built in Legos.  And my favorite is this one, entitled "Dick Cheney."

Funny thing is there are hordes of folk out there building Lego people to resemble both real people and characters from the land of make-believe.  Not only that, but there are folk with enough spare time to create movies using said Lego people.  Monty Python is funny enough, but once you've seen Lego people singing and dancing to "Camelot," you will never view The Holy Grail the same way again.  Don't believe me?  Then watch for yourself.

Then do some digging of your own.  You'll find things like the entire casts of CSI and Firefly immortalized in small plastic bricks.

You'll also find Buffy, Vamp Willow, and Xander.

Want sports figures?  How about Hannah Teter?

Ae4

Want women flyers?  Try Amelia Earhart and Sally Ride.

Ae5

Want musicians?  Here's the White Stripes, Brandi Carlile and Suzanne Vega.

Ae6

Want to make fun of Britney Spears?  Make her out of Legos.

Ae7

What I really want is someone to build me this out of Legos.

Ae8

Want to make your own digital Lego people?  Try this or this.  I've spent most of the day building the likes of Melissa Etheridge, the Indigo Girls and my boss.  The latter was clearly the most enjoyable.
