Some of the fab designy gift ideas from The Future Perfect. Crafty!

All of the video “gift guide” segments seen on Logo (and view here at NewNowNext.com) were shot at Williamsburg, Brooklyn’s awesome hub of art and design and killer gifts, The Future Perfect. The store is owned by Dave Alhadeff (watch him in the video below) who showcases the artwork and crafty creations by some of NYC’s (and the world’s) coolest emerging art talents.

Dave’s eye for design is uncanny... So when he spots an artist and puts their work in The Future Perfect, it’s like being declared young design royalty.

Watch and check out some of Dave’s cool gift suggestions below...

And now the goods...

Droop Lights by Kyle Cuniff

Brooklyn-based Artist Kyle Cuniff makes each of these cool Droop Light lamps separately, as each is a wine bottle melted down and reformed into a stirkingly cool fixture. (Kyle makes vases, too.)

Burn Books by Scott Campbell

Also based in Brooklyn, Scott Campbell is a tattoo artist by trade (in fact, he’s one of NYC’s most sought-after ones), but he also makes time to make amazing art pieces, like these gorgeous “Burn Books,” vintage books laser-cut and burned with stunning imagery of skulls or flowers. Check Scott’s site, Mama Tried, for more awesome pieces.

Little Joseph Candle Holders by Qubus

Qubus is a Prague-based design company which makes this almost-spookily striking candle holders. Stick a candle in the top of baby’s head, and the melting wax gives it a freaky hairdo!

New York Delft Plate Set by Lovegrove and Repucci for Areaware

These are not your granny’s dishes. Here, the classic tradition of Dutch Delft craftsmanship gets mashed up with the streets of New York City, with urban icons gracing each piece. Each place setting is made of fine porcelain and has five pieces; a dinner plate, side plate, soup bowl, cup and saucer.

InsideOut Martini & Champagne Glasses by AMT

Back in Brooklyn, Alissa Melka-Teichroew has taken classic drinking glasses and turned them inside out. They’re gorgeous and easy to grip and sip; and they’re iconic shapes get revealed when filled. Cheers!

And finally...

Grenade Oil Lamps by Piet Houtenbos

Made by Dutch artist Piet Houtenbos (who now lives in NYC), these functional oil lamps are made from real vintage hand grenades. But don’t worry. They won’t explode. In fact if they tip over, they don’t even spill. You’re safe. And they’re darkly stylish.

Again, all of these items can be found at Brooklyn’s The Future Perfect. Contact them via their site!

Hope your holiday season has some glowing designs!
