The B-52's Drop First Studio Album in 16 Years

Ready, set, fire up the beehive! The B-52’s, that venerable dance rock band named after a particular style of high-piled hairdo, have announced the impending release of their first full album of new material in 16 years. Called Funplex, the collection of 11 fresh tracks will be available from Astralwerks on February 28.
Funxplex was recorded in the band’s musically legendary hometown of Athens, Georgia, and was inspired by guitarist Keith Strickland’s listening to New Order’s guitar-heavy return to audiences, Get Ready, in 2003. New Order's producer Steven Osborne then worked with Strickland, Fred Schneider, Cindy Wilson and Kate Pierson on Funplex, apparently making him a specialist in helping veteran bands reappear after a long hiatus.
Early hints suggest that the new material offers a more polished and structured form of that classic B-52’s party sound. Strickland, in perhaps the most specific description to date, told Rolling Stone recently that, “It’s loud, sexy rock and roll with the beat pumped up to hot pink.”
There is speculation that the first single off Funplex will be a – surprise! – fun song called “Pump.” Another favorite seems to be “Juliet of the Spirits,” which references the Federico Fellini film. The band has been offering previews of the album at shows like the one in New York City on Halloween, and an upcoming performance is scheduled for Los Angeles on November 16.
Now, when will The B-52's roam around the world?
Speaking of queer bands, Julie, I wanted to direct you to these ladies who are grabbing attention in the LA indie/queer indie music scene.
They're called HER GIRL FRIDAY. They're catching the attention of girls and guys alike because they're not only hot, but they've got some serious musical chops and a moody, mysterious stage prescence. I saw them play at the Smell, Downtown Los Angeles and was completely mesmerized.
People should definately know about them.
love what you do,

His name is Keith Strickland, not Steve.
Just sayin.

Thanks for pointing out that error. I must have been "livin' on Channel Z" when I mistakenly wrote Keith's first name as Steven.
