Happy New Year's Eve, y'all! Before you head out, we've got another (well, the last) year-end NewNowNext Noise gay pop-culture video blog special! This time, John and I discuss what we're looking forward to in 2008...and there's plenty to look forward to!
We cover music (and by "we," I mean John), TV (and by "TV," I mean sh*tty reality TV I love) and movies! There are also some handy links for all of the buzz we discuss after the jump!

Wasn't Prince Caspian supposed to be 13? Well, sorry C.S. Lewis; Ben Barnes just sexed up your royal family. This English actor - he appeared in Stardust and something called Bigga Than Ben; he's lookin' pretty hot in that as well - will certainly make the upcoming Chronicles of Narnia installment that much more watchable.
The Prince Caspian movie got pushed back from, uh, now to sometime in May '08.
Next up ... the Prince Caspian trailer - and some more glam shots of His Majesty!

Time to catch up with those '60s-channeling cutesies, The Pipettes! I can't keep up with their music video releases; their debut album, We Are the Pipettes, is totally fun, and not only do they have a new video - and it looks like the girls got major budget increases - but I missed their previous vid for "Judy." ... whenever that came out.
Check 'em both out after the jump...

Calling all bats and vampires: Miss Kittin returns.
“Blood pressure is high. Need to pump some iron. Or German steel.”
Deadpan delivery over deep, throbbing techno beats can only mean one thing: Ms. Kittin is back.
The jet-setting queen of the electroclash scene plans to unveil BatBox, her second solo album and first since 2004, in early February. Her lead single, “Kittin is High,” can be heard in its original version here, and Miss Kittin is also prowling two remixes, with dark titles like “9/11” and “Beauty is Terror.”
Spooky? Well, yes. After all, Miss Kittin claims this latest effort was inspired by goth music and style.

Spencer Pratt from MTV's The Hills may be the poster boy for straight douches, but once his stint telling Lauren Conrad to "shut her ugly face" is dunzo, I could see this media ho going gay-for-pay, couldn't you?

The following revealed-truths about David Beckham do not surprise me: He gets all of his outfits ready the night before; he "straight"ens up those outfits living in the U.S. (did you hear about that Jean-Paul Gaultier sarong?); he borrows Posh's underwear from time to time.
But what does he have to say about the gays?...after the jump.

Meet the many faces of Xiu Xiu.
Any song that mentions “a dream about loss” at its outset makes a worthy contender for a listen on December 26. How else to approach that often dreary day after the big holiday, when the better presents have already been unwrapped, stomachs feel bloated, and the office reality rudely encroaches?
Cue the whistles, saxophone, harmonium and warbling vocals of the single, “I Do What I Want When I Want”, by Xiu Xiu. That would be pronounced, “shoe shoe” or “show show,” for the uninitiated. However demure the name may sound, this experimental indie band from San Francisco creates delightfully dark and adventurous noise, which includes some pop moments that recall The Cure and Joy Division.
Get down with Xiu Xiu after the jump!

Britney Spears was her usual dazed, probably-smelly self for her "Piece of Me" music video; sad 'cause that song is great. Well, Rizzo Rough (whoever that may be) remixed the Blackout track, and the result's totally fun. Perfect dance-floor fare, Rizzo; gay bars of the world thank you.
And the video's awesome, because you can't see what Britney looks like or what she's doing! Kind of like you're in a dark crowded club, not quite sure what someone you're interested in looks like, and just assuming the best!

Whenever I see someone with
one of those “Kill Your Television” bumper stickers, I feel two distinct
emotions. One, shut up, Smuggy McSmugerson. I bet you don’t read the
copies of The New Yorker in your bathroom either. And two, yeah, sometimes
I do feel like taking a 12-gauge to the old idiot box. This year I got
my usual mix of joy and pain from my television. The highs were so very
fantastic. The lows so very sucktastic. Here's a rundown of my top and bottom
five TV shows for 2007.

You've already seen it, so just go ahead and take it all in... Seriously, the glass bauble? I can't handle it!
I can't decide if Chris Crocker is brilliant and fierce or if he just scares the sh*t out of me. I guess he can be/do both. But how's that small-town, 20-year-old Britney fan doing lately? First of all, if you haven't seen Chris's MySpace page lately, go. No - go right now. It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen, and it's loaded with pictures like this masterpiece. No new episodes of Project Runway until next year?! What will we do with ourselves? OK - more dishing and trash-talking it is! We've got a very special ep of The Heidi Chronicles this week: John and I asked our LOGO co-workers to weigh in on Project Runway Season 4 so far. (It's gay MTV; you know everyone's way into it.)

Their new album will not be available in the U.S. until March, but the garage rock duo, The Kills, sound destined to burn up the speakers in gay bars sooner than spring with their first single, “U.R.A. Fever.” Certainly, queer crowds are bound to identify with the lyrics, “We are a fever. We ain’t born typical.”
Sexy, weird, and grainy in that Euro-sleaze kind of way, the "U.R.A. Fever" video above was directed by Sophie Muller, whose recent credits include Mika’s “Grace Kelly.” Her eye has also collaborated with No Doubt and Gwen Stefani, Blur, Garbage, the Eurythmics and Annie Lenox, for which she won a Grammy for her work on the “Diva” video.

A couple of days ago, I finished

I celebrated by getting some sleep, and by checking the theater news
I've been neglecting since the end of the stagehands strike. I

On the diva front, we have Barbra Streisand's “The Way We Were.”

Why has Rupert Everett gotten so crotchety? I mean, he's 48, but he gets to play Miss Fritton for his next movie. That sounds fun, right? But he just keeps spitting gay venom!

I've been very curious about the new miniseries Miss America: Reality Check that TLC has been plugging like crazy lately. The show takes 52 aspiring Miss America contestants and runs them through a makeover in an attempt to put to rest some of the worst pageant cliches.
The pageant stuff I really couldn't care less about, despite the fact that they're having a bit of a reality show renaissance as of late. What I find interesting is that Ugly Betty's wonderfully witty Michael Urie (Marc St. James) is the host, and from all outward appearances he's carrying quite a bit of his on-screen fashionista persona with him into this reality show project.

Like many of you, Sarah P. and I were bitter and pissed off after the season finale of A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila. Not that we didn't know what was coming to us — I did, after all, predict that Bobby was going to win.
Nevertheless, that didn't stop us from ranting about the following in Part 1:
- Why Dani should have won! And why that is a blessing in disguise.
- The show's annoying return to the men vs. women idiocy of its early episodes — groan.
- Why it was totally unfair and ridiculous for Dani to be forced to wear makeup and that bizarre flesh-colored tube top.
- How much we loved Dani's departing outfit. If she's really starting a "futch" clothing line, we're buying it!

There's a new six-part dramatic series starting over in the UK next month that sounds wonderfully exciting, not least of all because it features a soap hunk as a cross-dressing gay prostitute ... circa 1750. The series, City of Vice, tells the true tales of the Bow Street Runners, London's first police force, and their specific dealings with the world of prostitution.

'Gish'-era Smashing Pumpkins: It Was Acceptable in the 90s.
A good deal of the Smashing Pumpkins' appeal has always been the beguiling, even bipolar, way the band can slide in an instant from an overwhelming sonic assault into eerily hushed tones. Indications of this talent were apparent early in “Suffer,” a track from their 1991 debut album, Gish.
Quite a few hair trends and band lineups later, the Smashing Pumpkins’ duality comes to mind again, upon the news that they will release an EP, American Gothic, on January 2. Like the dark, wintry day of persistent hangovers and broken resolutions on which it is due, the work will be quiet, meaning acoustic.
The four tracks on American Gothic will be available as a hard copy all over the world, except in the United States, where it will be available only via iTunes. Biodegradable and cruelty free! Apparently, the Smashing Pumpkins absorbed some quality time with Al Gore during the backstage moments of their Live Earth concert in New Jersey.

I don't know about you,
but this hasn’t been my favorite year at the movie theater. While
a handful of independent charmers made their mark, all in all I wasn’t
blown away by many of the big-budget, big-star offerings at the cineplex
this year. But, ever the cinematic optimist, I’ve already got three
reasons to look forward to 2008. I say out with the old and serious,
in with the new and funny. These three upcoming comedies caught my eye.
So bring on the new year and save me some popcorn.

Oh, god - these two again. I embrace my love for tween-pop, I do, but I kind of hate that I love Aly & AJ's music. Oh, well - the second single from their album, Insomniatic [sic], is called "Like Whoa" (follow that link to hear it), and even though it's not about their asses - don't worry, Mya - it's pretty darn good.
The song definitely has that same style as the lead single, "Potential Breakup Song," did, but ain't nothin' wrong with that! The girls shot the video for the single earlier this month...although I hope it doesn't involve them on an actual roller coaster. I do not need to see that. The holidays are supposed to be about love, joy and forgiveness. The holidays are supposed to bring us together. They remind us to give to those who are less fortunate. We are supposed to set aside our family feuds, our petty disagreements, our bitterness at perceived wrongs. (Heck, we should do that all year long.)
Revenge is not a part of the holiday season. No matter: Every season is the right time to watch a good tale of revenge on the screen. Revenge tales allow us to live vicariously through the fictional heroes who exact their righteous revenge in ways we never could.
So what are the best revenge movies of all time? EW.com has compiled a list. As you might expect, this list is primarily populated with testosterone-fueled action epics like The Godfather, Gladiator, Death Wish and Payback. But the girls do get in on the action, sometimes in surprising ways.
Let's start with the most obvious films. First, and most recent, we have Jodie Foster. Yes, The Brave One made the list. Such a shame for me to be forced into posting yet another shot of the lovely Ms. Foster.

So whether you thought Tila Tequila was really bisexual or just went girl-on-girl now and then 'cause she thought it was cool (you know how it is), you still probably heard she chose the dude on the finale of A Shot at Love on Tuesday night. Yeah, and people were pissed - and not just because the decision only furthered the fake-lesbian rumors.
Bobby was attractive, but everyone knew Dani (follow that link for a LOGOonline exclusive interview with Dani!) was the better person and the better choice...including Tila herself, it turns out.
Tila Tequila's back to blogging!
So here I am with Bobby. Yes, I know a lot of you wanted me to pick Dani, and so did I.....but at the end of the day, I felt as though Dani and I became SOOOO close that I didn't want to ruin such a great friendship...
I did not choose Dani as my lover, but as my closest friend. This way we would never have to "END" things between us. Also the fact that Dani is doing quite well for many reasons and I am happy for her:
1) She's really famous now 2) The world loves her 3) She's getting more girls throwing themselves at her then ever before in her life 4) She's really famous now
Ok so there you have it. Everyone wins......except for me I guess....I think I found love, and then the world bashes me for putting out my feelings.
Check after the jump for a clip of Tila eliminating poor Dani!

"Islands in the stream, that is what they are..." Jake and Dolly get close! Photo courtesy of Dave King/Eyeworks.tv. Sometimes it seems like all the good TV comes from England. Doctor Who, Ab Fab, Graham Norton... And the Brits seem to crank out endless cool music/rock documentaries, too. On December 26th, folks in the UK get a belated Xmas gift when T4 airs “When Jake Met Dolly” in which “the excitable Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears fulfills a lifelong ambition by meeting his heroine Dolly Parton, the legendary Queen of Country!” Ummm... When do we get to see this Stateside, eh?
In the special, evidently Jake and Dolly hang out in her bedroom, they discuss her life and career and take “an eye-popping winter wonderland walk through her camp-as-Christmas travelling wardrobe.” Not fair! I wanna see...
Evidently Dolly was in England promoting her new tour (her new album Backwoods Barbie is due in February) and launching the UK arm of her children’s charity project, “Imagination Library.” Attagirl, Dora Lee!

Ashlee Simpson stopped by MTV to shoot an episode of TRL this week, and wasn't it sweet of her to speak with NewNowNext considering her new song basically tells the press to shut the ef up? Well, having completed her stint on Broadway in London as Chicago's Roxie Hart, Ashlee was high-spirited, super-tiny, all made-up...and had Papa Joe nearby to let everyone know when a bit of Ashlee's hair was out of place (stage mom?).

Former lead Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger keeps pushing back her debut solo album, Her Name Is Nicole, because her singles haven't been popular enough. I actually liked "Whatever U Like," but it didn't work the radios.
Third time around then? Nicole fans voted through her Web site for "Puakenikeni" (follow that link to hear it) as the album's third. It's pretty good...but nothing like her work with The PCDs. Just go crawling back, Nicole; you were totally the Beyonce of the group anyway.

A thoroughly modern Moby.
Nearly seven years have passed since Moby denounced the homo-bashing lyrics of Eminem, which prompted the adroit MC to dismiss the techno DJ as a “36-year-old baldheaded fag.” Perhaps his eminence Slim Shady had suffered a rare tongue-tied moment, because he failed to add “vegan” and “non-denominational Christian” to the tirade.
While the one-time rivals seem to have buried the hatchet since 2001, it sounds like the straight but gay-loving Moby would still like to travel back in time. In fact, the Harlem native and great-great-great-great nephew of novelist Herman Melville may want to head back to his roots.
No, no. He’s not writing a sequel to the book about the big white whale.

I always liked Adrianne Curry (except for her strange personal boycott of Black History Month) and her super-candid post-America's Next Top Model interviews...god that crazy, stoner chick was hilarious!
But sadly, I could never get into My Fair Brady (I mean, it sounded good on paper), but I'll have to catch this upcoming one...
Apparently, Adrianne posed in some suggestive, girl-on-girl photos as a present for husband, Christoper Knight. But something about the pictures upset Chris so much, he pushed for a separation.
ABC.com reported...
In the tense episode, which will air in January, Knight says of the photo gift, 'It is the physicalisation of my worst fears. It creeps me out. I want a separation.'
OK, a couple of things: Chris should not be shocked Adrianne gets into the girl-on-girl, and how could that be his "worst fear?" She already posed for Playboy, Chris; what's the problem? Plus, I don't think "physicalisation" is a word...and the pictures were hot.

Last week, some boys at
The Onion's A.V. Club compiled a list of “23 Songs That Should
Never Be Covered Again.”
I thought it would be a fun list, but I found it kind of boring because
it was full of songs that have been covered well (“All Along

and songs I've never heard covered (“99 Luftballons,” “Come
