Kathy Griffin: News on Next Season's D-List

Kathy: "Britney + Bad Girls Club = Genius"

I just happen to be in Miami for a few days for a work thing... And after arriving last night I pranced immediately over to the Jackie Gleason Theater to catch Kathy Griffin doing a big stand-up concert to open the South Beach Comedy Festival. Yay!

Of course, Ms. D-List was amazing and hilarious and reveled in all things gay. She gabbed about Britney (surprise!), about sharing a bed with Liza Minnelli (OMG!), the evil-crazy that is Marie Osmond, Oprah and even cracked jokes about dating super-mogul/Apple guru Steve Wozniak. He's a billionaire uber-geek; she loves it! Cute!

She also revealed a few tidbits about the upcoming season of the "Schmemmy"-winning My Life on the D-List!

Ms. G informed the Miami crowd that next season will bring 10 D-List episodes (an improvement from last season's scant six -- I guess we can thank the writers' strike), and that following in her tradition of performing in unlikely places (prisons, Iraq) she's going to do a show for the veterans at Walter Reade Hospital (strange, but cool!). The new season is likely to hit early this summer.

But maybe my favorite tidbit: "I'm going to go to Mexico and open up the Kathy Griffin Leadership Academy for Girls!" cracked the flame-haired genius. "I figure $300 should do it, right? We're gonna have the same uniforms that Oprah's girls have. And if it all goes to hell, I'll just change the name to the Kathie Lee Gifford Academy..." Har!

In attendance at the show was HGTV cutie-patootie and Miami Beach local David Bromstad, who I gotta say, is way better looking in person. He's taller, super-nice (I gabbed with him for a few), and not as twinkily cartoonish in person. Hubba!

Bromstad: Actually CUTER in person!

Anyway... Keep your eyes peeled for more Kathy. She's touring a wee bit now so, just GO, gay!
