New MGMT Video - "Time To Pretend"
Shouldn't this beyond-wacky trip-fest of a music video from Brooklyn band MGMT make me laugh? Videos like this usually do; but "Time to Pretend" had me transfixed. It's Track 1 from the indie band's studio debut, Oracular Spectacular. I like 'em, and I agree with Pitchfork; they sound like Muse.
The video features an island community that hunts zebras, performs crazy rituals and burns its money; because these people are "fated to pretend," they could never have everyday jobs and must shed all worldly attachments. ...or something? Then they ride giant kittens.
