Listen to R.E.M. Single "Supernatural Super Serious!"

Remmichaelstipe

R.E.M.'s 14th studio album, Accelerate, is due April 1, but Stereogum has got the band's first single, "Supernatural Super Serious," at this very moment; and I think the song has everything an R.E.M. fan could want. There's also a brief promo video. Cheer up, Stipe-y!

In the song, Michael Stipe sings about celebration, humiliation and seances ... everybody here comes from somewhere? ... and Mike Mill's backup vocals are totally great. Follow that last link to hear it!

Comments

It's a nice enough single, and the drumming is great, but Stipe's banal self-help lyrics weigh it down. Honestly, it sounds like R.E.M. trying to be circa-2004 U2.
