Brazilian Soccer Fans Cry Foul Over Ronaldo ‘Transvestite’ Scandal

74218578_5

Ronal-Do'h!

Seems like nearly anything goes where sexual orientation is concerned in Brazil, so long as it does not involve the mix of gays and soccer. Er, make that football. Macho sports fans from the land of baile funk and bikinis are mocking footie phenom Ronaldo for his alleged romp in Rio last week with three male prostitutes dressed as women.

Yes, this means the trio of sex workers is being described around the world with that outmoded term, “transvestite.” Wince.

Get both sides of the story - and maybe a grain of truth - after the jump!

Sex and the City Movie: Complete And Utter Fashion Overload

300x450_carrie_solo_flower
In Full Flower: Carrie's Back.

Full disclosure: I saw the Sex and the City movie this past Friday night at a press screening here in NYC. I can’t give away any plot points but I can say it’s pretty damn fun. There’s drama and major life changes for Carrie and the gals. (Expect more on all of this later...)

But I’ve got to say the biggest impact made by the movie may just be the crazazy over-the-top visuals fashion-wise. It’s like a big fruit-salad of color and couture exploding all over your face with every new scene.

As has been reported, Sarah Jessica Parker has about 81 costume changes throughout the flick. She first appears sporting an updated version of her trademark flower (see above), and this one is straight out of little costume-shop of horrors. It’s gonna eat her, I think. But then it doesn’t. (Maybe that'll be on the DVD?)

Here’s a video all about the insane clothes that costume designer (and fabulously out NYC icon Patricia Field) corralled for this uber-glam film.

SHE MADE ME WATCH THIS! Women's Sports Movies

-- Sarah Warn from AfterEllen.com

This episode of SMMWT! is all about women in sports movies! The ones we like, anyway...

Not included? The recent soccer movie Gracie (kinda disappointing), Million Dollar Baby (too depressing), and lots of ice skating movies (whole 'nother genre). Plus probably whatever movie is your favorite, which I'm sure you'll let us know in the comments.

You'll also learn how Lori met one of her tennis idols, why you'll never catch her on a surf board, and what  movie the Chariots of Fire theme song makes me think of (hint: Wally World!).

Suck It Up & Dance! The Step It Up Recap Vlog With "Mr. Broadway"!

Here he cooomes, Mr. Broadwaaay... Well, that's what we'd like to call this week's guest on  Suck It Up & Dance, but we might get sued! Nevermind ... Suck It Up this week is all about pageants and glitter - and dancing like men - so prepare yourselves. And yes, we have an amazing guest: the winner of the second-annual Broadway Beauty Pageant Marty Thomas!

Marty entered as Mr. Xanadu and roller-skated out of there with the title - and with that tiara! We chatted about Xanadu's origins, roller-skating injuries and his childhood owning of one Britney Spears on Ed McMahon's Junior Star Search. And, of course, we recapped the most recent Damn Yankees-themed episode of Step It Up & Dance.

We're not done yet! NewNowNext has an exclusive interview with recently-eliminated Oscar. Read the Q&A after the jump!

Voting for AfterElton & AfterEllen Hot 100 Celebrities Begins!

Gayhot100s

Don't keep these poor celebrities in suspense any longer! They're (maybe not so) secretly dying to know who the gays and lesbians are sweating over. We are the taste-makers, after all.

AfterEllen.com and AfterElton.com are both gearing up for their second annual Hot 100 lists, as chosen by you gay blog-junkies. Voting has begun and will stay open until May 15; the sites will publish the results June 2. Last year's lists were pretty crazy: Tina Fey even gushed about her spot on AfterEllen.com's list on Conan O'Brien.

I didn't actually vote for AfterEllen.com's hot women - since I'm not a lesbian, and all - but I'd love me some Natalie Portman, some Jackie Warner, maybe some Sarah Silverman... I'm sure Tina Fey will knock out anyone and everyone, though. Last year, Leisha Haley from The L Word won, followed with Angelina Jolie and then with Kate Winslet. Not bad ...

But I did vote for my top 10 hottest guys on AfterElton.com - so check out my picks after the jump (only two are gay, though ...).

Heath Ledger Owns the Dark Knight Trailer No. 2

-- Brian Juergens from AfterElton.com

Folks who braved the multiplexes this weekend (with Iron Man raking in over $200 million in just four days, it must have been like a mini Comic Con at every concession stand across America) had the chance to catch the brand new trailer for The Dark Knight in all its creepy, explosion-happy glory.

The trailer is now online, and it's both reassuring to see that the Warners haven't tried to bury the performance of late, great Heath Ledger and undeniably disturbing to see the apparently troubled actor playing it convincingly unhinged in his final (and biggest) role.

How do folks feel about this one?

New Panic at the Disco "That Green Gentleman" Video

I've read reviews of Panic at the Disco's Pretty.Odd album describing its sound as more "classic" and "mature" than quirky A Fever You Can't Sweat Out; OK, fine - but bouncy-ballad number two? This is their new direction?

I do like the P at the D guys and their gay-friendly ways, as well as this Moulin Rouge-y - or maybe Sgt. Pepper-y - single cover - but I'm just not feeling this song. For "That Green Gentleman," the band sings "I wanna go where everyone feels the same" and proceeds to a too-green park for some good ol' fashioned fun - like riding those bikes with the enormous front wheels.

And say hello to the Nokia product placement while you're there!

If you haven't heard the first Pretty.Odd single yet, check out an acoustic version  of "Nine in the Afternoon" the guys taped for MTV after the jump.
