Kerli - or 'Creepy Girl' from Estonia - "Walking On Air" Video

 

Kerli Koiv is a 21-year-old Estonian pop-singer who performed in talent competitions in her home country and in Sweden before Island Def Jam signed her two years ago. Whew ... basics out of the way. That was for you; if you're like me, you demanded an immediate explanation as to who this creepster girl is. Doesn't she freak you out? You can't just spring that kind of thing on me!

 

Kerli's going to release her debut album Love Is Dead June 10, and this first single is an odd mix of Bjork, Evanescence and Tim Burton. At least Kerli acknowledges she's scary as hell. I also listened to "Creepshow" on her MySpace page - it's my favorite of her tracks I've heard - in which Kerli proclaims she's "from a land called secret Estonia" and that "nobody knows where it's at." Wait. I might know. Come on ...

 

 

Well, maybe this girl will end up huge in the U.S. I mean, Evanescence did ... I can never predict. I feel like she's this close to looking like she's auditioning for Rock of Love 3, but she kind of fascinated me: Despite that played-out goth Alice in Wonderland look, her constant, unnerving grin did have an effect on me....
