The 50 Best--and Worst?--Gay Bars in America???

Flyers from Mary's in East Atlanta... Is Georgia on our boozed-up gay-bar loving minds this Pride Weekend?
Oooh, this is gonna get touchy!!! I just posted a story over on Logo's lovely travel site, Trip Out, which is titled "The 50 Best Gay Bars in America?" And yes, the question mark is intentional.
I love round-up stories like this, and yes, a list of the "best" gay bars is not going to please everyone. Especially because this article isn't about which bars (from coast to coast, from P-town to San Diego) are the coolest or slickest or most-all-inclusive or reputable. Hells no!!! This time it's all about appreciating the crazy, broken, messy, draggy, dive-y joints out there. Props to The Drinkery in Baltimore! To "Our Fantasy" in Wichita! To the Blacklite in L.A.!

From The Cock in NYC to The Blacklite in L.A., some tips on how to drink your way from coast to coast!

Nate at Brooklyn's Metropolitan has the right idea...
Of course, some glossy bars/clubs are included too... And some entire states get overlooked entirely. That's because this list was compiled solely on personal recommendations of hard-core barflies and homo-journalists from publications like NYC's Next, Time Out Chicago, Time Out NY and elsewhere. It's a mix. You might disagree... But let's hear about it!
And which bar gets named "The Best Gay Bar in America"??? Well, it's not in NYC or L.A. or San Francisco. Heh, heh... Have a look and find out why the "dirty South" is alive and well...

A view from the floor at Mary's in ATL.

Is Paradise really in New Jersey? You bet it is...

The ladies of Remington's in D.C. are eager to welcome you...

And finally... Nothing says "I love my gay bar!" better than kneeling at jukebox in your hottest Cher jean jacket. It's some woozy gay love from The Drinkery in Baltimore!
HAPPY PRIDE!!!
what about The Lexington in SF!? The ladies aren't too well represented here. This place deserves its own feature story yo...
