Watch New Bloc Party "Mercury" Video
I won't speculate on your message to the U.S. government with this one, Kele; your "Mercury was in retrograde," when you wrote it anyway, right? So this ... unusual video also serves as the first single from Bloc Party's upcoming third studio album - the follow-up to last year's A Weekend in The City - as well as a more electronic direction for the U.K. band. Kind of like that "Flux" song...
So, in a plan to "annihilate the modern world" - and score mad bananas - a Planet of the Apes group of scientists engineers a bull-lobster-human Frankenstein creature it can control remotely. The apes then send "Smith" off to the U.S., where he eventually becomes president and destroys the world. Nice!
So I'm not crazy about it, I admit ... Watch my fave Bloc Party song "The Prayer" after the jump.
LOVE this song!

I was hopping Bloc Party would go back to the rock pop sound of their first album but I actually like this song

Bloc Party has given an elite first play to the world “Mercury" on BBC’s Radio One in the UK. People enjoyed the show which is played and it’s fairly firm to have an impression.
