Watch Beyonce "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" Video Here ... Plus The "If I Were a Boy" Video

Whew! My thighs are going to be sore tomorrow just from watching all that gyration! The dancing in is video is, of course, really impressive, but I'm disappointed with Beyonce's treatment for "Single Ladies"; it's such a fab song, and this production just does not live up to the energy. Who put B on a budget? Why not use all this fantastic choreography - and even that fembot hand - as part of an actual video? Stop taking yourself so seriously, Beyonce!

You can watch the video for the other I Am... single, "If I Were a Boy," after the jump: B switches roles with her man, becoming Officer Knowles for a day ... just try to get past the "intimacy" Calvin Klein ridiculousness at the beginning.

"Single Lady" video looks a hot mess. I don't know why Frank, Bey's Choreographer didn't just use Jonte'. He got some busted up version of him to do the moves and it looks cheap. Bey is the best and she always should use the best! The missed with this video. Bring back Jonte', Ramone, and Danielle, PLEASE!

Y'all do realize this is loosely based on a classic Fosse routine with Gwen Verdon, right? Recognize the history!

I think "Single Ladies" is the best Beyoncé video yet! Although she really does need to stop ripping off Sweet Charity in her videos. At least she has good taste! And who knew her dancing was that fierce? Brava, B!

I could have sworn that Jonte choreographed this video. If you watch his videos, she is moving almost exactly like he does. All of the jerky, syncopated hip pops and the use of hand gesture - these are practically his signature moves. Not to mention the moment when the two other dancers pull their legs out into standing splits to frame B. Who ever actually choreographed this, borrowed some moves from Jonte.

ok! Jonte is great, but he didn't invent anything in terms of dancing... hands moving or putting legs out is not that new!!! i think beyonce's video is perfect: simple, classy, refined and fierce at the same time! she proves that you don't need big money or super productions to keep the attention up! i love this video! so much better than all the videos from B'Day.. those were not as focused as this one. in Single Ladies video she came to the point she was trying to reach with Red Light or Suga Mama videos.. straight to the core! no elements of distraction and very nice work on the lights! great B'!!!

nothing is new, darling, but there's no denying Beyonce's history with Jonte in past projects (i.e. get me bodied, freakum dress). I agree that this video is hot, but one must acknowledge that Beyonce is appropriating other icon's symbols (the michael jackson sleeve/glove and the fosse moves). These choices shouldn't be necessarily be shunned, but one should see that these are conscious tactics to create ties between Beyonce and legends like MJ, Diana Ross, Josephine Baker, Fosse, etc... Honestly, is she truly as inventive and innovative as they were? NO SHADE.

Ok yea ...this video is sick !!!!!!!! I was watching it for the first time and actually thought the dark skinned one was peanut but i'm unsure ....but they are killing and i ...quickly said JONTE CHOREOGRAPHED THIS!!! he had to have choreographed it...if he didnt then i don't know how some other choreographer managed to nail this style and if they did thats kinda bama to just be another jonte.....i mean ...the tilt!!! jonte.... the pop pop release the role role drop hit the floor ....slap ..dainty moves all that ...like i can tell the difference between jonte choreo on beyonce and someone elses choreo on beyonce ...cause it looks challenging to beyonce but she's getting used to it ...so i really thought it was Jonte that choreographed this....jonte is so similiar...he makes you go FULL OUT like this ...and they are going FULL OUT like fullest potential ...you know ...he brings the ENERGY out of her in the dance moves but yea.he supposed to be in dc this weekend teachin a workshop but hands down to whoever choreographed it because its smart.!!! the video is simple but catches your attention cause the dancing is outrageous...!

"ACtin up..." come on now thats JONTE!!!! ...." IF you (pop pop...pop ..pop ...pop) dont be mad ....THIS HAS TO BE JONTE!!!

i agree.. nothing is new! i do love jonte aswell and the first time i saw Single Ladies i thought he was the choreographer, but if Beyonce chose someone else and the final result is good it's ok anyway! jonte is doing his things now, and beyonce is following her path as an artist. she's not trying to steal from anybody, she gives tributes.. she's young and she's growing as an artist, trying to take different kinds of inspiration from what she likes and putting it into her style. even bob fosse is not the inventor of his style.. he took from fred astaire, from the burlesque, from the garbo... for michael jackson is the same, for jontè and for beyoncè aswell. personally i was waiting for something different from Beyoncè's new album. Single Ladies sounds a little too much like Get Me Bodied... and i don't like If I Were a Boy because it's kind of pop-rock between Prince and Tina Turner and i prefer a different sound for B, but she's still good and she's doing what she wants! taking always something from the best :)

omg ! get off beyonce dick damnit ! just because it doesnt have all them damn scenes and glamour shit like dat does not mean its not a good video ! i like the way she kept it simple wit the outfits n background. everybody gets inspiration from somethin else n thatz probably wat she did. either way she still did her damn thing ! this is my favorite video by her out of all of them ! lol KUDOS TO B !

umm just checkd, and NO it wasn't Jonte.

Shoulda been tho..

Peace Biscuit, it's nice to see that someone else picked up on the nod to the Fosse/Verdon routine. Personally, I think the video is brilliant! There are not many artists that can pull that off. Work it out B!

well I personally think that the video is hot to deaf. She cut up in this one and if anyone has any doubt that B can dance should watch this because that shit was not easy. Obviosly this Jonte fellow is a big deal (from the comments) and thats all fine and well but its good that she gave others a chance to get discovered. Damn, Bey, If I didn't like boyz u culd get the bizness.

actualy Jaquel Knight choreographed this whole video> and its amazing. obviously you all are not dancers.

Here is the direct link to what Beyonce was taking inspiration from:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfACM-xB904

It's Bob Fosse choreography performed to "Mexican Breakfast" performed by Gwen Verdon.

I think Beyonce is fucking genious in doing so. It shows she's smart and creative and knows how to credit genious when she sees it. Unlike SOME other artists who just hire shitty choreographers and place themselves in a club. Fucking idiots. Work it out Beyonce.

She did a similar thing when she took inspiration for her "Get Me Bodied" video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZnFQvlb2OA. She took from another Bob Fosse choreoagrphed piece from Sweet Charity called "Rich Man's Frug".

Work betch.

This link splices the Single Ladies video (which I love, partly for the simplicity of everything 'cept the dancing) with the two Fosse routines that have inspired it: 'Mexican Breakfast' and 'Sweet Charity'. Fosse was a very talented choreographer, why shouldn't new artists bring such talent to generations who possibly wouldn't be exposed to it otherwise

Oops, there's the link I forgot to attach, give it a look!

I dont see how anyone could compare this routine to the fosse routine. Nothings new remember? Fosse and those slow azz broads aint got nothing on beyonce and her dancers...
