I Have Something to Say! Gay Fave Amy Sedaris Is Returning to TV!

-- snicks from AfterElton.com

The woman of a thousand faces, Amy Sedaris, is set to return to TV in a new sitcom, making her many gay fans all over the world quiver in anticipation ... and fear.

Learn more after the break!

The new show, which is still under development, will be written by Amy and her longtime writing partner Paul Dinello, who will also direct. As to what the show will be like, ponder these words of warning:

While the show will be scripted, there will be room for the Second City alumna to showcase her improv skills.

"She is a loose cannon and always adds something when we're shooting," Dinello said.

The project will be taken out to the networks in the next few weeks, with Sedaris and Dinello hoping it will land on cable.

Sounds like the perfect followup to the pair's classic contribution to bad taste, the late and lamented Strangers With Candy, which aired on Comedy Central early in the decade, and helped launch the careers of Sedaris, Dinello, and Stephen Colbert.

A longtime and tireless supporter of gay causes, Amy brings the same skewered take on life as her older brother David (aka the world's greatest living humorist). Only someone like her could make a line like "You're just a rack of bones covered in a thin layer of fag" hilariously appalling instead of just...appalling.

I'm a bit concerned, though. Amy's fractured sense of humour is an acquired taste, and I'm afraid that it may be lost on some people. So I'm curious as to how many gay fans she has here. Are you looking forward to seeing her new show, or would you rather gouge your eyes out? Let us know in the comments!

I love Amy! I love STRANGERS WITH CANDY and her cookbook too! I hope it's good!
