Golden Globe Gay Moments? Were There Any?
Oh, Daddy...
Gay action at the Golden Globes last night? Eh... Not so much. But there were still some fun blips and burps on the radar if you watched.
That nice Kate Winslet fared well. Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson were charming to watch together onstage. Tina Fey told online haters to "suck it!" (Yay!). Director Darren Aronofsky playfully flipped winner Mickey Rourke the bird, which made it on air (in the live telecast anyway). And Colin Farrell is back to looking scorchingly hot again these days... Hurrah!
Milk was a non-presence at the shindig. Why wasn't Sean Penn even there? His presence on the red carpet might have spurred some good gay political questions... But alas, we had only Neil Patrick Harris to gaze upon for a nano-second when his nomination was called out.
After the jump, check out my quickie photo-album with dorky gay commentary... And kudos to Renee Zellweger for bringing her demented sourpuss for a good scare.
Big winners 30 Rock - for Alec, Tina and Best Comedy Series. They'd also win for "Most Fun Table to Be Seated At, Right?" Stop hogging the Moet, Tracy!
NPH: The only gay in the village...
Congrats to Colin! He's looking good these days. Love the vest. And his roguish, messy charm gets me every time. Plus, he loves his gay brother. Sigh...
Fun Couple of the Night #1: Jessica Lange & Drew Barrymore. They're starring as mother/daughter in the upcoming Grey Gardens flick. And they just really seemed to be having a ball. Nice!
Also, I think Drew's drag-queen-meets-Marilyn look for the evening rocked. She was a big fluffy parade float. At least somebody brought a sense of humor and movie-star levity to this affair...
Fun Couple of the Night #2: Steven Spielberg & Martin Scorsese. Are they like an old married couple at this point? It's kinda cute how they gab and work the crowd.
Hot Threesome of the Night: Zachary Quinto, Anna Paquin and Chris Pine. Quinto looks a bit stiff here, but was pretty dreamy onstage. Bring on Star Trek, already! And hurrah for Anna/Sookie! And Vampire Bill was seated right next to her. Also, when Paquin won, we got to see Alan Ball (another actual gay) on screen for a half-second. Yay!
Fun Couple of the Night #3: Mickey Rourke & Bruce Springsteen. I felt genuinely happy for hot mess Rourke when he won. (He thanked his puppies!! Awwwww...) And props to Bruce for being a true class act. Nice going, guys!
Is it weird that I didn't recognize True Blood's Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) with his clothes on? Not sure I approve...
So fabulously terrifying... Thank you for being a fiend.
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuit: Glenn Close and Susan Sarandon brought lesbian chic to the evening. Way to go, ladies! Somewhere, Bea Arthur is proud.
Drink up, Colin. I'll make sure you get home just fine... Heh, heh...
And we'll leave with a pic of Mickey Rourke greeting the press corps with his trophy. Again, I feel happy for the old mess. He -- or anyone else -- couldn't have imagined this happening in a zillion years. Guess this means I need to see "The Wrestler", right?
