Finally, an episode of Bravo's The Fashion Show that does not involve teams! Reco isn't the only one getting sick of this team business week after week.
With the designers unencumbered by each other, and left to their own devices, we got the best runway show yet this season. They really shone through as individuals, and even poopy-pants Isaac had kudos for them.

Episode 4: The Shoe Must Go On
The challenge this week was all about working from the ground up: Design a dress inspired by a pair of shoes.
Maybe the best part (for the designers) was the field trip to Fifth Ave landmark Bergdorf-Goodman so everyone could pick their own favorite among the impressive inventory of Jimmy Choos, Manolo Blahniks and Alexander McQueens.
The designers are transported to Shoe Paradise! One pair... How do you even begin to choose?
Anna and Haven have a little spring in their step after their little Bergdorf's shoe-stravaganza. *Sigh...* I know just how they feel.
Even without teams, the judges narrowed down the field down to the worst two designs. By creating their little drama about whose look they’re “not buying” and who is left “hanging by a thread,” the judges force themselves to make a 50/50 decision. Let's call it their “which is worse” moment.
Last night's “which is worse” moment was a decision between the designer who made a bold but disastrous choice and the designer who made a safe but boring choice. The judges made a bold choice themselves.
I've always loved, loved, looooved Amanda Lepore. And her latest video for "Cotton Candy" only makes me worship her more. It's truly the most fun, most glamorous, most stylish, gayest, and most searingly delightful thing I've sing this year!
The 1950s/60s romantic comedy Doris Day/Mamie Van Doren movie-poster styling of the entire thing is genius, and fits Amanda's deliriously femme fabulousness perfectly. And I'm even smitten by Cazwell as a dark-haired, goofily cute, Clark-Kent-ish romeo. Adorable! (I was hoping for a little Cazwell-tastic rap break in the middle there, somewhere. But you can't have everything, I guess.)
Also, the song is a total, toe-tapping, twist-inducing treat!
Basically, it's all the summer sunshine you need. Mwah!
Bisexual Lady Gaga's "LoveGame" Video: Sexiest Commute Ever!??
Everyone's favorite new bisexual, Lady Gaga has a new video for her single "LoveGame." And I have a few things to say about it...
1. Okay, this is next single? This is supposed to be my summer song? I'm not convinced. But then again, Gaga's tunes always sneak up on me after the 100th listen, and then they get insinuated in your brain and you can't get enough, and then someone hands you a shot of tequila and then... So. We'll see...
2. Those are so NOT New York subway cars she's riding and dancing in. Busted! But who cares! She's got the hottest commute ever! A subway full of ridiculously cut gay studlets dancing. All aboard, please!
3. She gets it on with a hot cop in a parking garage booth. Now, I'm really jealous...
Remember how hot Kate Bosworth (seen in Blue Crush, above) was before you knew anything about her? Same for Kiera Knightley, who was butch and adorable in Bend It Like Beckham.
The list runs the gamut from Zoe Saldana to Katharine Hepburn... Go see if your fave made the cut. And I won't tell you whether or not Mariel Hemingway's turn in Personal Best got picked or not.
Livvi Franc hails from the Barbados, and is collaborating with some of the producers and starmakers who've given us Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Leona Lewis and Lily Allen on her first upcoming album, coming later this year. But for now, just check out this juicy footage (above) from some recent fierce photo shoots, all set to her first single in the U.S. (on iTunes June 6th), "Now I'm That Bitch."
And by "bitch" Livvi means someone who's "Being In Total Control of Herself." See!? It's a positive term. Nice, right? This could be a breakout song of the summer, possibly maybe!
You'll see Livvi onstage on Logo's NewNowNext Awards (watch here or on-air on June 13th), and after the jump, check out her hot look when she rocked the runway. Ouch!!!
The above clip is a spoofy bit of gay Brit-ness! You like?
It was created as a little opening bit of funny stuff for Logo's NewNowNext Awards, which presented Ms. Spears with their annual "Always Next, Forever Now" prize as part of this year's show (which airs on Logo on June 13th). The award went to Janet Jackson last year, and is sort of a lifetime achievement thingy for being a big gay favorite, or extra queer-friendly, or just fierce.
"Beautiful Moments" Vlog with Simon Doonan - Episode 2: How to Have a Beautiful Career
Last night saw the premiere of the new show Beautiful People on Logo. In the series, you can watch a 1990s teen version of style maven Simon Doonan cope with adolesence and his leanings for the glam life while living in British suburbia. It's cheeky, funny, sweet and rather gay. And terribly fun!
Now, in our second visit with Simon in the Barneys Design Studio (where he whips up all of the creative brilliance for the store's window displays), we talk a bit out "How to Have a Beautiful Career!" And Simon's advice may surprise you!
Who knew the secret to a fabulous life could be found in retail?
"How the Mormon Stole Everything!" Twisted Video Alert!
Not sure if Dr. Seuss would approve, but who cares??? Check out the twisted video, "How the Mormon Stole Everything," a loopy response to all the Mormons vs. Gays/Prop 8 business... I do believe I recognize the voice of the genius Jonny McGovern on this one, which is apparently also a sneak peek to the upcoming season of The Big Gay Sketch Show on Logo (which they just finished taping).
One question: Where do I get my paws on some of those "ass-a-madoodles" and "corkscrew-madiggers"???? Fagville, here I come!
Think this will ruffle any feathers? Prompt a resurgence of foam parties???
And does today's big Prop 8 ruling (ouch) make this even more relevant? Ayyyy!
Wow gays and gay-friendlies, between shooting our NewNowNext Awards and American Idol picking a winner, it sure was the Gayest Week Ever! Can our hosts, Claudia Cogan and Ben Lerman handle it!? Find out on Gayest Week Ever!
New Simon Doonan Vlog: "Beautiful Moments" Advice! Style! Speedos!
From left: Jonathan Adler & Simon Doonan give good face; and model Jason Morgan (photo by Greg Vaughan) shows you the right way to dress for summer!
Greetings, Pumpkins!!! It's Memorial Day Weekend, summer is starting! And a hot new adorably fabulous show is coming to Logo next Tuesday, May 26th. It's the fab comedy Beautiful People, which follows the life of a young Simon Doonan (based on his book) as he grows up in kooky, hard-scrabble Britain! Think the Wonder Years meets Ab Fab and you've got it!
And today brings the debut of a new weekly vlog, "Beautiful Moments with Simon Doonan" in which the super-fab Simon gossips, talks about his lovely life, the show, and most importantly, offers advice on how you too can live beautifully!
Today he explains "How to Have a Beautiful Summer!" and it's not about being demure. When it comes to beachwear, for example, Italians do it better! Less is more! Show off what you've got!
Watch and learn. And come back next week for more!
Markus pricks his finger on the needle of criticism.

Episode 3: Trick Up Your Sleeve
This week on Bravo's The Fashion Show, our twelve fashion apostles were challenged to design a coat for every season with more than meets the eye. I was hoping to see something that transformed into an alien robot or a sports car, but I guess hidden pockets and detachable hoods will do in a pinch.
The host with the boast, Isaac Mizrahi, sums it up well between the two hapless hopefuls at the bottom of this week's challenge. Who is the better designer: the one with good ideas and poor execution, or the one with good execution but no confidence?
In one corner, Markus was disappointed in the craftsmanship of his high-concept jewelry wrap — but we have people for that ... right?
Where is my team of sewers, dammit?
Haven, on the other hand, was ready to throw herself off the show for sending a sub-par spring coat down the runway.
A southern girl needs her hairspray, sure, but ... a little too much junk in the trunk?
Need a new summer band? Actually, you can probably use a few, but consider Discovery. They're the new project from Vampire Weekend's keyboard meister, Rostam Batmanglij, and Ra Ra Riot's singer Wes Miles.
Their sound is happy and warm and fuzzy; electronic and cozily poppy at the same time! Their first release will come on July 7th from XL Recordings (thanks Subterranean!) but til then get a little listen on their MySpace page.
Heyyyyyy, did the best woman win???? She better had.
The big news from last night's NewNowNext Awards taping in NYC? No, it wasn't RuPaul's costume changes (which were HOT). It wasn't Lisa Lampinelli's filthy jokes (which hopefully will make the cut on-air). Okay, it could have been the riveting live perfs from bands like Morningwood, The Fire and Reason, Storm Lee and the Paradiso Girls featuring Eve (although they were all pretty legendary as you'll see...), but that's not what I'm talking about.
It was THE WINNERS!!!!
And since gays suck at keeping secrets, after the jump you can read the full list of who won what! Of course, you still have to tune in on Saturday, June 13th to watch it all unfurl, but for now... We'll share.
[Psssst! There's another hot pic of Ru after the jump, too!]
A gracious quote from Adam Lambert about losing to Kris Allen in the big finale last night on American Idol:
E! Online: Blogs are going to say, 'If he wins it's because he's gay, or if he loses it's because he's gay.' What do you think of that?
Adam Lambert: Is that what they're gonna say? [Laughs] Those blogs have a lot of opinions, don't they? [Laughs] I think that Kris won because he's a great artist and I was happy to be a runner-up to that.
So he didn't win... But are there any doubts that he's gonna have a sick and amazing career?
NewNowNext Awards: Eve, Vanessa Williams, Wendy Williams & More!
The ridiculous hotness of the Williams sistahs, Vanessa & Wendy!
Tonight's NewNowNext Awards were a fun, celeb-packed, musically rawwwwking and gay-tastic hot mess in all the best ways. I think we saw some RuPaul wigged and begowned brilliance, some twistedly brilliant musical performances: Morningwood! The Fire and Reason! And brace yourself for dancing Stormtroopers (Thanks Storm Lee.) and the brilliance of this summer's hot new all-girl act, the Paradiso Girls featuring hip-hop goddess Eve!
All the attendees looked amazing (I have an all-new respect for Wendy Williams and the divine Paulina Porizkova; both big, beautiful and soooooo fun to talk to!) but don't even get me started on how beyond stunning Eve was. Gack! Gorgeousness galore!
Here's a quick pic. More to come!
The lady Eve, flanked by the globally gorgeous Paradiso Girls. Their single "Patron Tequila" is your new summer party anthem. TRUST.
More after the jump... and then still more coming!!!
Tonight the big, barmy 2009 NewNowNext Awards will be throwing down at NYC's Hiro Ballroom. All manner of festive celebs will be on hand such as... Vanessa Williams! The kids from Real World Brooklyn! RuPaul! Ongina! Wendy Williams! Cheyenne Jackson! Some kind of special visits from Britney Spears and Lady Gaga! Sia! Jill Zarin and Bethenny of the Real Housewives of NYC! And more RuPaul!
The show won't air until June 13th, but follow our Twitter feed @logochannel, live from the red carpet (and maybe at the afterparty, if we're still standing!).
We'll be dishing on what Ru is wearing! Who Wendy Williams is pissing off! And who fashionistas Robert Verdi and Christian Siriano are declaring as "fierce!!!"
Also on deck, a prize for the Brink of Fame Actor, which will honor an up-and-coming thespian who we expect to hear a lot more from! And the nominees are a nice bunch! They include Twilight uber-hottie Cam Gigandet (above, and there's one more Cam shot coming), and a bunch more from hot shows like Fringe, True Blood & The L Word, as well as films like Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist & Between Love and Goodbye. Read on! And enjoy the pics!
At the end of last week's Lost finale (SPOILER ALERT!) Juliet said goodbye to Sawyer, fell down the big pocket hole full of metal stuff and managed to bang some life into that slippery H-bomb, thus possibly blowing up the island and her chances at coming back for the last season.
And now Entertainment Weekly reports news that might confirm her status as really dead (if anyone's ever really dead on Lost), as Elizabeth Mitchell is officially on-board to star in the new ABC relaunch of the campy 80s sci-fi alien-lizard series V. Fun!
I finally warmed up to Mitchell's Juliet, after spending about two or so seasons HATING her. But I still had a bit of trouble really buying her undying love for Sawyer... Maybe I'll enjoy her more as a lizard queen?
Now if only someone could find another series for Desmond! I want more Des!
Who knew Shia LaBeouf directed music videos? Here's the new clip he helmed for the grim rapper Cage. Is LaBeouf a big Lost fan? Might that explains the black smoke creeping around?
And yep, that's LaBeouf himself in a cameo at the beginning. Would Indiana Jones approve?
Bob Barker could have hosted this week's mini challenge. Separating the high-end merchandise from their affordable alternatives was like something out of The Price is Right.

Episode 2: All the Bang, Half the Bucks
This week on Bravo's red-headed Project Runway stepchild, The Fashion Show, we dispensed with some drama early on with the sudden, mysterious and largely unexplained departure of Kristin, the little pixie who ended up second from the bottom on last week's episode. Couldn't take the heat, I guess. (Or maybe she was scared away by Merlin's collection of hats.)
Too bad! I liked our Chicago gal. Lady, we'll miss your Kool-Aid-colored locks!
Bad news for the show! With one fewer episode, what must the advertisers think?
Last week was outrageous! Truly, truly truly outrageous! Comedians Jackie Monahan and Shawn Hollenbach lay it down, from Obama's "love" of politics to Joan Rivers winning Celebrity Apprentice (congrats Joan!). We're hoping you will look back fondly with us, as last week was the Gayest Week Ever!
Cynthia Nixon Announces Engagement at Broadway Impact Marriage Rally
Cynthia Nixon at the Broadway Impact rally in NYC. Call her Mrs. Big, perhaps?
Sex and the City's Cynthia Nixon is engaged and plans to get hitched! At yesterday's big Broadway Impact rally in NYC to voice support for gay marriage, Nixon announced she and her longtime girlfriend Christine Marinoni have swapped rings and plan to make it official! Nice!
Watch a great video of Nixon's empowering speech at Broadway.TV. And there's more coverage on AfterEllen and JoeMyGod, too! And yes, DListed (Nixon and Marinoni's #1 fan) is on it, too!
Other stars at the massive rally included Cheyenne Jackson, David Hyde Pierce and the cast of Broadway's Hair. And if you're a fan of Hair's leading man, cute out actor Gavin Creel, he's been blogging about the Broadway Impact marriage cause for awhile.
Awwww... Honor Society's so cute! Mom, can we keep 'em!???
Wanna know what the opening band for the Jonas Brothers look like? Meet Honor Society. They're young, from New Jersey, and apparently are great prom material. And they're so polite and kind they'll even teach you how to tie a bow tie.
Go have a listen if you must. Michael, Jason, Andrew & Alexander may just be your new best friends. Or something...
I'm sure I'm not allowed to pick favorites (and goodness knows the girls don't need MY help), but I do appreciate a queen who posts some genius video. The standings change daily, but leading the pack as I write this is India (who's working a hot papi headshot at the moment), with over 15,000 votes. Then comes Empress Fontaine (such a lady, indeed) snagging just under 15,000.
And then comes #3 and #4. In the third spot comes the Puerto Rican sparkler, Madame LaQueer, who is also very tight with Ms. Nina Flowers. I like her. I feel like she particularly excels in the interview video. Watch above! The checkerboard hoodie look deserves an award all its own.
Then in 4th place (for now) you'll find NYC's own Mimi Imfurst, who is a force to be reckoned with, herself. I've seen her perform enough to know she's talented, funny, strong-willed and would make for some seriously entertaining TV. She co-hosted a RuPaul's Drag Race Season 1 Finale party in NYC; watch her below in the clip. She's the mama with the big, high hair. Delicious!
Now, go to the RuPaulCasting.com site and VOTE for who you love. Only 39 days until Round One ends! And click around there, cuz there are some glamorous and crazy beeyotches to check out.
Formerly (?) trash-talking and once-homophobic rapper Eminem is on the cover of Vibe this month talking in relentless detail about his f*cked up druggy past. (I can't fault him for his Vicodin abuse. I had some of that stuff for a toothache a few years back, and it was swell!)
But in the story, he goes on at length about how he and Elton John would giggle on the phone like best girlfriends, talking about drugs and addiction and doing shows with Queen (er, really?). I wonder if they ever swapped rock-bottom tales of depraved sex-for-drugs escapades... (Sorry, but you know how those rockers and rappers roll!)
Actually, you can read a bit of the piece about Em & El's late-night pillow talk after the jump.
All this means... Hang on to your hi-tops, this could be the summer of Little Boots! And this coming Monday night (May 18th) she's coming to NYC to do a show at Le Poisson Rouge in the Village, and you can score 2 tickets!
Just be the very, very, very first commenter to post on this blogpost, and you'll win 2 tickets to the show. You must be 21-years-old and there is no purchase necessary. And that's it... First come, first serve!
The winner has to get to the show on their own dime (your 2 free tix will be under your name at Will Call at the venue; doors at 8pm), and be sure to enter your email address when prompted as you comment (it won't be visible to everyone, don't worry), but then you're gold.
Little Boots and her magic horsies are willing you to comment first and WIN!
That's it. Hit it first, you win! And if you don't win, but wanna go here's the show info.
After the jump, the "New in Town" video and a BBC interview!
You think being profiled in The New Yorker is a big deal? HA! What's way better is a nice super-gay interview on OMG Blog! Beloved indie rock frontman Ed Droste of Grizzly Bear served up a cool chat with the OMG folks. He talks about gayness, the band's uber-buzzed about new album Veckatimest (out on May 26th), his loves, his hates and his dreams for the future. (Sort of!)
It's a nice interview, and Ed's a peach! Have a look! And see them when they start a-touring later this month!
Kanye West must have had a really nice trip to Hawaii, because this little travel video he shot is amazing. Actually, it's officially "Amazing." Meaning, it's the video for his new single called "Amazing." And it was shot in Hawaii...
I usually just come back from a trip with a bunch of messy photos to post on Facebook, with dopey captions. Nicely done, Kwest! Maybe he's not really ruining pop culture after all?
Consider it prep for tonight's big Lost season finale.
Fresh from East St. Louis come Gunna and Tee, the two A-type girls who are Unladylike. They sat down for a cute chat with MTV's Buzzworthy Blog (below) and professed themseslves to be "shoe-heads" who are also obsessed with sports and Xbox.
Their singles "Bartender" and "Dough" have already snagged them some serious attention, including a deal with hip-hop maestro L.A. Reid and Def Jam. Keep your eyes and ears open. You'll be feeling a lot more Unladylike in the weeks to come, I'm feeling...
The Gossip: New Single, New Album Cover, New Unofficial Video & New Blue Hair
Beth Ditto's been a little bit of everywhere lately (magazine covers galore!) so it'll come as no shock to hear that The Gossip has a new album dropping on June 23rd in the US. It's called Music for Men, which makes me hope that Le Tigre's JD Samson and her DJ posse known as "Men" are involved.
You can hear the first single, "Heavy Cross" which sounds like classic Gossip, with Ditto's powerfully piercing voice guiding a charge across a battlefield of jammy guitars and sharp keyboards. And now you can peep the new album cover below:
It looks good, right? Androgyno-tastic, with nods to (as Stereogum notes) kd lang, Morrissey, Bowie and Johnny Cash all at once. Heck, it even looks a bit like Phranc, remember her? I'm sure Beth Ditto does.
The Fashion Show: A More Pissed-Off Project Runway?
The Fashion Show's eager wannabe designers. And the freaky little red circus doorman on the far right? He's one crazy homo.
--by Eric Walter
While Season 6 of Project Runway is lost to the ages somewhere between Bravo and Lifetime (Hint: Wait for it on Netflix.), fans can make do with The Fashion Show, the latest cutthroat couture reality show and Bravo's response to getting their signature show snatched away from them.
Let's get it out of the way: It's impossible to not compare The Fashion Show with its ground-breaking predecessor.
Gone is the warmth and mentorship of Tim Gunn, the wacky accent of Heidi Klum, the snide remarks of Michael Kors. But we do still have the host throwing open the work room doors to call out expectantly "Designers...!"
And... It works.
Basically, The Fashion Show is a little toned down, a little more serious, a little more academic, dare we say a little angrier?
Neil Patrick Harris & Portia de Rossi Top the Hot 100!
Presenting the king and queen of gay sexy-land!!!! Via AfterElton & AfterEllen.
Or maybe we should call them Neil Patrick Hotness and Portia de Hotsi? Today the big gay sites AfterElton and AfterEllen have revealed the results of their annual HOT 100 survey, wherein gays and lesbians from across the land voted for who they think is most shag-tastic. And NPH and Mrs. Ellen came in on top for who the queers love!
Yep, Neil Patrick Harris knocked Jake Gyllenhaal off of the top spot (Jakey had won the last 2 years); and Portia de Rossi took this year's lesbian crown of foxiness, which had been worn by Tina Fey and Leisha Hailey in the past. It's kinda cool to have actual out gays topping the list, right?
So, did your picks make the list? Go see! Both Barack and Michelle Obama made the lists; which means for the first time in a looooong time, the U.S. has a sexy first couple! (But you knew that already.)
This weekfunny man Jeff Hiller andour favorite blacktress Naomi Ekperigin tell you how gay it really is! Fromdancing“ladies”, to the gay oldbath houses of yore, this top is ready to get to the bottom of it!
Are you ready for another installment of GayestWeekEver?
The Aussie duo Empire of the Sun is up for an ArjanWrites "Best International Crossover" Award as part of this year's lovely NewNowNext Awards. One big reason why is the tune above, "Walking on a Dream," which I hear constantly at my gym. You gotta figure if your song gets played at gyms all over the world, that's kinda huge!
Over at ArjanWrites.com, you can get a super-special download of the a remix of "Walking on a Dream." (That Arjan is sooo nice!) But it's hard to match the sheer crazy over-the-top color of the video. Makeup! Feathers! Japan!
After the jump, the video for Empire of the Sun's "We Are the People" which takes their costumes, eyeliner and crunchy glam to the U.S. Southwest. As dressed up as they wanna get, they're really just nature boys at heart.
ArjanWrites Presents a "Superfraiche" Concert in NYC in June!
Music blogger Arjan (of ArjanWrites.com) is uber-busy! First, he's presenting one of this year's NewNowNext Awards, the prize for Best International Crossover -- meaning a cool artist from overseas who's about to make it big in the U.S. Nominees are Little Boots, Empire of the Sun, Frankmusik, Patrick Wolf, Ladyhawke and VV Brown.
Gaga sez: "I heart misfits! And gays, too! Let's party!"
Lady Gaga is sort of on top of the pop culture world right now. Her album, The Fame, just went platinum, she's the first artist in over 10 years to have their first two singles go to #1 (the last was Xtina!), she's sung on American Idol and been profiled in The New Yorker. Fancy!
But she's still got a clear sense who put her on top: The GAYS!!! Hello. After all, it was only a year ago she was performing in gay bars all over the US (and making her TV debut on Logo's NewNowNext Awards).
In a chat w/MTV she gives the gays big thanks: ""The turning point for me was the gay community. I've got so many gay fans and they're so loyal to me and they really lifted me up. They'll always stand by me and I'll always stand by them."
Attagirl, Gaga! She was giving us props a year ago, and she still is. Hurrah! Go Lady! And... Can we talk about borrowing some hot-pants, from ya?
Latina pop megastar Paulina Rubio is still somewhat unknown to mainstream Americans. But that's a shame. The big-haired, saucy, crazy, tarty diva is a genius when it comes to catchy pop, skranky outfits and shameless fun.
MTV Tr3s' Blogamole blog (best blog name ever) had the exClusive premiere this morning of her latest single, and I'm tres thankful. The tune is "Causa y Efecto" and in the video, La Rubio looks like a cross between Portia de Rossi/Carmen Electra and Lady Gaga. Better yet, she's into roller derby, and fancies wearing a dangerous-looking glitterball-face-mask, all the while romancing a cute skinny lad who she could probably snap in half like the feeble twig he is. Then just when you think it can't get sillier, she whips out a pony! Fantastico!
But the song is mucho sweet! Brava, Paulina!
After the jump, I've posted what may be one of the sweatiest, most shameless videos ever, courtesy of the potent Paulina! Get ready to get "Sexual"...
This got posted a couple of days ago, but it's worth checking out "Adam Lambert & 20 More of Music's Glammest Guys" over on MTV's Buzzworthy blog. Yes, we all know La Lambert is a bedazzle-licious icon in the making, but what about all the fancy gents who came before? Boy George! Freddie Mercury! Kanye, even! And yes, El Debarge!
It's a bright and shiny day in Gay-land!!!! Kylie Minogue has announced she's coming to the US for her first-ever North American tour this fall. Right now, little fawns and ponies and fairies are dancing and rejoicing, from P'town to Blacks Beach (which is just outside of San Diego and full of nudies, fyi)!
I may have to get an American Express card just to be able to buy tix a week before all the other gays. (AmEx cardholders can snatch tix on May 7th -- which is tomorrow! ack!). Everybody else must wait til May 16th.)
The glittery glamfest begins on Sept. 30th in Oakland, and prances through Vegas, L.A., Chicago, Toronto and NYC from there on! See tour dates.
And befitting a nelly icon of her status, Kylie will visit with the wonderful & hag-tastic Kathie Lee and Hoda on The Today Show this Sunday, May 8th to discuss it all. I'll be drunk and watching!!! With my Mom!!!
Below is the graphic Ky-Ky's got posted for the tour already. Bonkers! Brilliance!
After the jump, four reason why she rules... Video-style!
Amanda Palmer & Neil Gaiman Pair Up for Housing Works Show in NYC
Dresden Doll Amanda Palmer isn't content to just be a spirited, wildly talented, weird and queerly cool music artist. She's also all about creating theatre and visuals and stories and all flavors of twisted art and media. Her fans know this already of course...
And so does author/sci-fi god Neil Gaiman, as he's a fan and the pair have collaborated on the book version of her sonic opus "Who Killed Amanda Palmer?". Fans of both (or either) will be tingling to hear that the pair will unite for an event at NYC's Housing Works Bookstore/Cafe (where Bjork is performing this Friday) on June 3rd for a reading/performance, which is certain to be trippily fantastic.
Sunday, May 17th is the big day for the AIDS Walk New York, when thousands of cool folks stroll through Central Park as part of the big annual fundraiser. It's always a great event, and shallow as this may sound, they always get nice celebs involved, too! This year, Hilary Duff is their go-to girl.
Wanna help out and walk with them this year? Go to AIDSWalk.net for all the details!
Katy Perry's latest (which is the fourth single, from One of the Boys which has been charting now for nearly a year -- oy!) is out, and it's a glossy celebration of excess, Vegas, feathers, poker chips, Elvis, casinos and the unnecessary stuff Lady Katy is known for. And it's great fun to watch!
Besides, Katy is presently traipsing around the world with her "Hello Katy" tour (she's hitting the big Life Ball in Vienna next week) so I think she's gonna be just fine...
Another slice of movie goodness for you, this time it's the new trailer for Julie & Julia, starring Meryl Streep as Julia Child and the fab Amy Adams as food blogger Julie Powell. So good!
AfterEllen's got a full post about this (including some good background on the film and Julie Powell's "Julie/Julia Project" blog, in which she spent a year cooking all of Julia Child's recipes from her 1961 classic Mastering the Art of French Cooking). Bon appetit!
Is it wrong to cry at a foodie movie? I just might. The trailer already got me excited and swoony.
The new Star Trek movie opens this Thursday, but have a peek at a few sneak peeks scenes for now (Thanks, MTV!). Above, Kirk meets McCoy! The doc was always one of Star Trek's best characters, and as played by Karl Urban, he seems every bit as cantankerous, turbulent, opinionated, roguish and... Kinda hot!
And below, Kirk meets Uhura. By "meet" I mean, tries to pick her up in a bar. Nice. I just hope we get at least one scene with Uhura's hair piled sky-high on her head a la classic Nichelle Nichols. See you at the multiplex this Thursday!
Poison Eve serves her own brand of Stevie Nicks at "Night of 1,000 Stevies" last Friday in NYC. Photo by Zazoo & Santori.
--Guest Blogger, Jon Mallow
Last Friday night I grabbed my lace shawl and headed down to the legendary Night of 1000 Stevies at New York’s High Line Ballroom. At the risk of sounding a little dramatic (me? dramatic? No way!), this is one of the greatest nightlife events of all time. If you even like Stevie Nicks a little and have the opportunity to attend a NOTS in the future you should. I brought a friend with me who was not a huge Stevie fan and guess what…now she is.
From the moment I walked in and heard the opening chords of "Rhiannon" until the moment I left (at the very end, naturally), the room was full of enchanted magical energy. The place was packed, but that was never an issue. Everyone was so nice and so in tune with each other that waiting for a drink or making my way through the tight crowd became fun. Everyone was there for the same reason and was feeling the same Stevie vibe. It’s really beautiful. And don't even get me started on the gorgeous costumes... So many beautiful "girls" dressed as Stevie. Machine Dazzle's many dove'd hat was, as expected, a work of art (see more pictures after the jump!).
Milo Ventimiglia to Become Even More of a Sci-Fi Geek Sex Symbol
No, he's not addressing the U.N., but Milo does have some news.
Milo Ventimiglia is already a mega-hearthrob thanks in no small part to his frequent shirtlessness on Heroes. But now the handsome wiry star is taking his geek icon status up a notch by launching a new online reality series, "Ultradome" which will feature weekly battles of Sci-Fi and fantasy characters to find out who'd kick who's ass. Yep, it's gonna be Gandalf vs. Darth Vader!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the reality show (with a sense of humor, obvi) will be a "new scripted Web series where passionate fanboys settle hypothetical disputes in a special effects showdown."
Some further info: In each three-to-five-minute episode, two mega-fans will engage in a heated geek-culture debate -- "Who's tougher, Harrison Ford as Han Solo, or Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones?" -- then they'll be transported to a stadium where they'll engage in single combat using all the weaponry, skills and pop culture touchstones from their respective hero's creative arsenal. Think of Spike's Ultimate Warrior, but geekie!
No word yet on which bigtime site will host the series. Til then, enjoy Milo getting some wookie nookie, below. And with extra wavy hair!
This week, you can blame Joan Rivers and a weird episode of "Lie to Me" for all the gayness. Your hosts Brad Loekle and Claudia Cogan offer their wisdom on such topics as Celebrity Apprentice freakouts and why some faces are just way gayer than others.
