Esther Dean's "Drop It Low" Is Your Wednesday Mid-Day Wake-Up Call

Maybe it's just me or the cool weather, but something has me running at about half-speed today. I need some energy! Thus, I summoned hip-hop darling Esther Dean and her "Drop It Low" video to wake my a** up!

Suddenly instead of slumping over my desk, I'm busting a freaky dip in the oatmeal aisle at the Stop N Shop! At least in my head anyway...

And what's with this new trend of nightclubs tucked in the back of walk-in freezers or kitchens (like in Whitney's "Million Dollar Bill")? Is this really catching on? Is there a speakeasy crankin' behind the Oscar Mayer bacon at the C-Town near my house? The mind reels...

"Where the Wild Things Are" Soundtrack Streaming Now! Karen O, Kids & Monsters! Listen!

400x400_wtwtr-soundtrack

The Spike Jonze movie version of Where the Wild Things Are hits theaters on October 16th. Chances are you've seen the trailer and gotten goosebumps or cried or sighed or gushed. It looks soooo goood! (And a colleague here at work already saw the film and said, "Yes, it is soooo good." More on that later.)

Now you can hear the soundtrack, whipped up by the genius Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, who assembled an indie-all-star band, called The Kids (which includes Bradford Cox of Deerhunter, the Liars' Aaron Hemphill, The Dead Weather's Dean Fertita, Jack Lawrence from The Raconteurs and Karen's YYYs cohorts Brian Chase and Nick Zinner) to perform the songs. And yes, she got a bunch of children to sing along, too.

Also worth noting: Check out Spike Jonze's awesome blog about the film and other arty things: We Love You So.

Listen below... And watch the film's trailer after the jump!

Rufus Wainwright Loves Cheese, Surfing, His Boyfriend & Helping Homeless LGBT Youth!

350x500_Rufus&Jorn
Rufus Wainwright and his German hubby, Jorn.

New York Magazine has a festive interview with Rufus Wainwright up today! Rufus' new concert DVD, Milwaukee at Last!!! (which was shot by documentary filmmaking legend Albert Maysles, of Grey Gardens fame) is out now, he's got some shows around the Northeast in the next weeks, and he's giddy to talk about it all.

First off, catch Rufus in NYC next Monday, October 5th at "A Place at the Table," the fancy gala benefit for the Ali Forney Center (which provides housing and services for homeless LGBT youth). It's a fab cause and Rufus will rock the house!

Meanwhile, Rufus divulges to NY Mag that he's happily ensconced back in New York, living with his handsome beau Jorn in Chelsea and spending time at a new Hamptons house taking yoga and surfing lessons. Zoinks!

But fear not, Rufus still has a taste for decadence which involves cheese-binging with Jane Birkin. Sort of... Read the full fabulous Rufus Wainwright interview for the gooey details.

The Gossip's "Music for Men" Shows You Its Big Gay Muscles! Fun Video!

The Gossip's latest album, the scorchingly hot Music for Men officially comes out in the U.S. next Tuesday (Oct. 6th). As if the band, led by out frontwoman and international icon of amazingness Beth Ditto weren't gay enough, they created the above promo to help arouse, er... interest in the record.

God, could I love this band more???? Like they say, "they know what a man needs..." This sweaty, pink, throbbing, dirty-fingernailed promo is my favorite thing ever. And to be even more universally homo-tastic, they recorded versions in French, Spanish, Japanese and German, too.

Why does the German one sound extra-dirty? And the Japanese one is just brilliant. And yes, if you think the little chipmunky chuckling at the end seems freaky, you're not alone. I love it -- and it scares me! All good things...

Beth and the band are touring all over the U.S. starting Wednesday, October 7th in D.C. Go, go, go, go, go, go see them.

"The Wizard of Oz" Paints NYC Green! Dorothy & Crew Invade Big Apple!

by Kameron Zach

This month marked the 70th Anniversary of the classic film The Wizard of Oz, which has been remastered on hi-definition Blu-Ray and DVD slated for release next month. What better way to celebrate the impact of this classic story than to throw a glamorous release party at New York’s famous Tavern on the Green? (Note: Tavern's owner, Jennifer Oz LeRoy is the granddaughter or Mervyn LeRoy who produced the legendary film.) In attendance for "The Emerald Gala" last Thursday were five of the original munchkins, Judy Garland’s daughter, Lorna Luft, singer/songwriter Ashanti (who just starred in The Wiz on Broadway) and A LOT of gays.

Of the hundreds of guests celebrating, my friend Jonathan Shirshekan takes the cake for most unique party-goer (but maybe I have a slight bias; we're besties!). Jon’s what we in the business call an overachiever, at the age of 22 he's a published author having written, The Wizard of Oz: An Illustrated Companion to the Timeless Movie Classic (Shameless plug: Available at bookstores near you).

Have You Seen FAME in Theaters Yet? Check Out our Rave Review and a 5-Minute Trailer!

New-now-next-fame-logo

By: Selena Watkins

“Remember my name. Fame! I’m gonna live forever. I’m gonna learn how to fly—High!”

These famous lyrics made its way back into our lives on Friday when the re-make of the 1980 movie, Fame, released in theaters.

Of course I went to see the movie because I am a dancer. I received my BFA in dance from Mason Gross School of the Arts. I love to see dance on stage and it gives me chills to experience it on the big screen.

Besides the five middle school boys a few rows behind me, snickering and kicking the already flimsy seats around them with full force, I had the best experience.

Performing artist or not, you should see this movie. It isn’t just another dance flick where there is no real plot or character development.

Yes, Logo's Big Gay House-Husbands Reality Show Is in the Works. Yikes! What Do You Think?

450x250_GayCelebs
Will any good powergays (and their men) come forward for "Kept"? Let's hope...

After seeing posts on Gawker and RadarOnline last Friday about Logo's big new gay "Real Houseboys of New York" series (that's my title, not theirs), I had to try and get confirmation from this from my Logo colleagues here. Here's what I found out...

YES, there is a show like this actually in the works, and True Entertainment, the folks who produce The Real Housewives of Atlanta and HGTV's Design Star (not to mention The Gastineau Girls -- ouch!) are behind it.

YES, they're gonna be casting in NYC any moment now. And while the working title of the show is "Kept" (Ewwwww! I hope they rethink that; remember that Jerry Hall mess?) the focus won't just be on couples in a rich-guy/kept-boy scenario. More like the Real Housewives the show will likely aim to focus on couples and colorful gay professionals just working and thriving here in NYC.

Frankly, the possibilities are staggering. NYC is full of gay power couples, each with its own dynamics... Jann Wenner & Matt Nye; Marc Jacobs & Lorenzo Martone... How about the fabulous Padilha brothers behind MAO PR? They'd be amazing TV. Uberglam fashionistas The Blonds (you get a husband and a hot wife!)? Or how about porn magnate Michael Lucas and his businessman hubby Richard Winger? Oh, the mind reels...

Just about anybody in gay NYC knows prominent media gays, publicists, event planners, DJs, party promoters, Broadway producers... The casting possibilities are endless. Let's hope that this is tackled in some way that's not inherently embarrassing. OR, more to the point, let's just hope it's a big sprawling gay train wreck that'll be chronicling demented homo drama from Fashion Week to Fire Island; from Therapy to Sugarland; from GLAAD cocktail shindigs to Bana Pool Parties... In the words of RuPaul: "Don't f**k it up, yo."

And can we maybe get a Kim Zolciak and NeNe cameo in there? Please?

Is Ambrose Price TV's Next Design Mega-Star? Have a Look & See!

350x500_AmbrosePrice2
Will the festive Ambrose Price be reality TV's next hot-glue-gun-toting mess? Let's hope!

Next Monday night Logo debuts a new series The Decorating Adventures of Ambrose Price, which follows the looney exploits of Ambrose Price, a charming and kooky gay from small-town Newfoundland (as in Canada) who's determined to make it big as the next big design/homemaking/style guru. Should Martha Stewart be worried? Er... Let's just politely say it's a bit too early to tell.

To Price's credit, and in spite of his endearing if fumbling persona (which you see in the preview clip below) Price isn't a total rube. He was a breakout star on the Canadian version of HGTV's Design Superstar Challenge. He didn't win, but audiences loved him and he then got his own show up north. Have a look!

Price is pretty daffy to watch (in a fun way!). I keep wondering, "What's with that accent? Is he drunk?" But I do admire his spunky, fearless approach to everything.

The show officially premieres next Monday, October 5th at 10pm. Hang on to your hot glue gun!

On Project Runway, the Costumer is Always Right

On-location
The designers hit a movie set to receive their next assignment.

Episode 6: Genre Bender

—by Eric Walter

The fashions may be fun, but this week's episode is a snooze-fest. With the Nicolas-Johnny conflict resolved, the best we get now is a brief detour into Carol Hannah's crush on Logan. (Get in line, sister.)

Carol-hannah-logan
Carol Hannah gazes dreamily under the brim of Logan's hat.

There's some workroom drama with a rash of bobbin theft. (Sabotage!) And Louise stabs her finger tip with a sewing machine needle.

OK, that is kinda gross.

The personality conflict geiger counter is registering record-low readings. There was no WTF moment this week.

No one's asking for Irina to press an iron to Nicolas' face, or to use Logan's pin cushion as a voodoo doll, but what is happening to the Project Runway we know and love?

Forgive me for saying this — where's Santino when you actually need him!

Guest-judges
Once again Nina and Michael are M.I.A., and we have guest
judges galore. What is this, The Fashion Show?

Perhaps sensing this, the producers have set us up for a team challenge next week. Working in pairs, the designers are always cable-ready for drama, and frankly I can't wait.

This time our intrepid contestants are tasked with choosing a movie genre and creating a character to live in it. But the judges favor couture over costume and leave us with, I think, some unfair results.

The challenge, apparently, is to create a look inspired by a genre, not something that would actually work in a movie. The judges adore Christopher's backless, sleeveless, totally inaccurate Victorian gown but don't much care for Gordana's perfectly lovely flapper dress. They go crazy for Epperson's western-genre denim-and-leather frills but make nary a comment on Shirin's saloon floozy.

Christopher-workroom
Christopher goes all Merchant Ivory on us, but with a twist.

Gordana-workroom
What, I ask you, is wrong with this lovely beaded confection?

Interestingly, the winner and the loser are both from the same genre: sci-fi. But between Nicolas' three cosmic queens living in Orion's belt and Ra'mon's alien-human hybrid, I don't expect a happy ending for either story.

New Gay Pop Starlet Sliimy Loves NYC! Photos from His First Showcase! Sparkles! Balloons!

370x500_SliimyTimesSquare
Sliimy does NYC! His TwitPic after his showcase and a night out at Splash. Woo-hoo!

New French pop wunderkind Sliimy is making the rounds and he hit NYC in a big way yesterday! On Thursday morning, he visited the adorable Fred Flare store in Brooklyn and was greeted by big gay cheerleaders! Then, around lunchtime he headed to MTV and Logo to shoot some stuff that you'll see soon online!

Last night he served up his first real NYC performance, with a little acoustic showcase at a new glittery club in Chelsea, Juliet's. The crowd was cute and PR goddess Liz Rosenberg (yes, as in Madonna, Cher & Stevie Nicks' Liz Rosenberg) introduced Sliimy; she's working on his press. Nice score, Sliimy!

Anyway his show was delightful, serving up about 5 songs including his first single "Wake Up," his fab cover of "Womanizer" and a few others that captured his sunny, quirkly, melodic style. Wearing a glittery gold jacket, superskinny jeans, curly black hair a-flopping and his hands painted blue (why not?) Sliimy charmed the crowd. Now I wanna see him in a full on pop-tastic show with electronics and instruments and visuals galore!

And according to his Twitter feed, Sliimy stayed out late in NYC last night, coming home from the gay club Splash at about 5am. Well done, Sliimy!!!

After the jump, check out photos! I talked to Sliimy and he said one big highlight of his day was meeting Mika, while he was at the Logo shoot. Yay! I love it when floppy-haired prancey boy pop-stars meet!

This Week In Fabulous 9/25: Skanky Teens, "Glee" Takes Over and Beyonce Benevolence

In today's edition of "This Week In Fabulous," we sneak a peak into last Sunday's Emmy Awards, see how much of Miley Cyrus's bra can be exposed without any actual nudity occurring and cry because of Beyonce's awesomeness!

5. Glee! jumps on the Single Ladies bandwagon.

Best new show of the season? Think so.

Alright, I have a confession to make…I haven't actually watched Glee yet, but it looks amazing! After watching this clip, though, I think I'll have to check it out now. Plus, my friends keep harassing me and proclaiming that it's amazing, so I guess I should just shut them up and watch it!

Lady Gaga's right breast, multiple personalities and a video that will for sure make you cry after the jump!

Project Runway Hopes for Some Hollywood Magic. Can It Deliver?

Another Thursday, another night of Project Runway, which I still have to remind myself is on Lifetime (which is where on my cable?). Tonight, the challenge seems fraught with chances for f*cking up as the designerettes are asked to create a dress for some kind of movie character, that they have to make up. A film noir diva? A superhero? A vampire bride? I'm guessing no one's gonna choose, like a sweaty poor union leader (Norma Rae!) or a grungy lesbian serial killer (Monster!) but I'd liiiiive for it if someone would...

But have you kids been following this season? Is Lifetime, ahem, "making it work?" For me, the show's grown a bit dull. I mean, last week even Nina Garcia or Michael Kors didn't bother to show up. And this week they're playing up a romance between straight boy Logan and one of those mousy girl designers who I can even remember. ZZZZzzzz...

That said, as soon as something demented happens, I'll be loving it again. I hope. And I do enjoy watching Althea (loopy tall blonde gal), meanie Nicholas (the dumpy bad-haired bitchy gay who I also wanna see get kicked off), and I might be becoming obsessed with slavic goddess Gordana. I wanna hang out in a beer garden with her and smoke and talk about men. That's okay, right?

Almodovar's "Broken Embraces" Is a Gorgeous, Noir-ish Soap Opera Romp! Penelope Cruz Sparkles! See Pics!

450x200_BrokenEmbracesPoste

Last night I saw a press screening of the new Pedro Almodovar film Broken Embraces, starring Penelope Cruz. It's gorgeous, lush, mysterious, film-noir-ish and somewhat of a sprawling, luxe soap opera.

The film is wildly enjoyable and fun to watch; there are cheating lovers, jealous rich men, handsome young guys, bitter wronged sons seeking revenge, horny film directors and in the middle of it all a ridiculously gorgeous Penelope Cruz in 9,000 amazing outfits, playing an ambitious young mistress and actress in a messy love triangle. And yes, someone even gets hurled down a flight of stairs. Perfect.

Need more reasons to see it? After the jump watch the trailer, and get a load of just a few of Penelope's hot looks from the film. The movie opens in NYC on November 20th.

Twilight's Sexy Cam Gigandet Is in the Cher/Xtina movie "Burlesque!" Hubba Hubba! Watch the Video Interview!

Cam Gigandet, known as one of Twilight's meanie vampires, and as the always shirtless star of Never Back Down, and just as an all-around blisteringly hot man-pony is starring alongside Christina Aguilera and Cher in the film Burlesque which now just may become the best film of all time.

You think I exaggerate? Just listen to Cam describing the film: "I [play] a struggling piano player, and I'm currently working as a bartender at Cher's burlesque club," Gigandet said of his character. "Christina and I meet, fall in love, and drama ensues." See??! Can you imagine anything better?

Maybe. How about if Cam gets to dance and sing along with the ladies? (I mean, a flick with Cher & Xtina called Burlesque has to be a musical-of-sorts, right?) "That's interesting — I don't know," says Cam. "There's music in it, and they do sing. I mean, they're at a burlesque club, so they do sing and dance. It's a very sexy, sexy movie."

370x540_CamGigandet
Award-winning hottie Cam. Yes, I'd like butter on that popcorn, please.

Wham, bam, thank you CAM!!!!

Mika Says "Call Me Bisexual," Talks Hugh Jackman, Cuddles with Gandalf & Fashion Studs! See for Yourself!

370x500_Mika&SirIan
Sir Ian McKellen gets some Mika love. Go Gandalf!

Mika's second album, The Boy Who Knew Too Much comes out next week. I've already heard it and it's bloody fabulous. But Mika himself is also pretty fab. Who else thinks so? Apparently X-Men baddie and superwizard Gandalf, aka the world's most fabulous gay actor Sir Ian McKellen, who whooped it up in London for Mika's album release party there last week.

The album release party was a starry affair (Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Jodie Harsh) and packed full of fashion superstars. I love the pic below of Mika getting cuddly with uber-designers Roland Mouret, Christian Louboutin and Matthew Williamson. Dandies galore! And can I say right now that Mouret is my new #1 crush? He's hot!

450x350_MikaRoland&Fashion
From left: Roland Mouret, Mika, mad-hatter Christian Louboutin & Matthew Williamson.

Also, the Dutch homo mag Gay & Night interviewed Mika, and when they quizzed him about his sexuality, he reportedly said "I've never ever labeled myself. But having said that, I've never limited my life. I've never limited who I sleep with. … Call me bisexual, if you need a term for me." Okay, that works! FUN!

Today NY Mag as a cute lil' interview with Mika about his new record, his upcoming movie musical collaboration (maybe) with Hugh Jackman, and how he was a wall-scrubbing OCD teen. Check it out!

Jonny McGovern's Got a New "3-Dollar Bill" Web Video! It's Wrong... But Gay Jesus Likes It!

Jonny_mcgovern
Jonny McGovern: Serving you new, twisted dirty-ish gay stuff.

New York's Jonny McGovern is a busy fella. He's got his weekly Gay Pimp podcast, his cast duties as one of the funny folks on Logo's Big Gay Sketch Show (season 3 coming in early 2010), he performs onstage and still throws some hot downtown NYC parties.

And apparently he still finds time to make a twistedly funny web series "3-Dollar Bill" which spoofs everything righteous in the world today. There's a new episode out now, which mocks frothing, alarmist news shows and the demonization of kids TV characters like Tinky-Wink and SpongeBob. You ready to meet "Double-Dee"???

And there are 4 previous "3-Dollar Bill" web videos you can enjoy (if you dare) while you're at it. Mercy, mercy me...

"The Good Wife" Premieres Tonight. Who Doesn't Love Julianna Margulies, Okay? Watch a Sneak Peek.

Woo-woo, it's fall TV season premiere time. Tonight, the always fierce Julianna Margulies returns to your TV set in The Good Wife, and folks seem to think it's gonna be good. I've always loved Ms. Margulies. Friends who've worked on her shows says she's the coolest/nicest person on the planet, for one. And if you're feeling low, all you ever have to do is say (in a sassy drag-queeny/Paris Is Burning-esque tone of voice) "You better wuuuurk, Mizz Julianna Marguliiieeeeeees" and everthing in the world is brighter.

Also, the L.A. Times calls The Good Wife the "best new drama of the season." And it's got the always genius Christine Baranski as Margulies' new smart power-lawyer boss. Whoo!

Warning: Taylor Lautner's "New Moon" Photos May Make You Howl! Or Just Go to the Gym. Look!

450x350_TaylorLautner-LATim

Nice trunk, dude.

Yes, yes, yes... Taylor Lautner is only 17. So when I present these pics to you, it's more out of a curiosity about film and fitness, more than anything else. Really.

The L.A. Times made a backstage visit to the set of New Moon, or whatever Twilight sequel they're shooting at this point, and I thought you might like to be assured that young Mr. Lautner is keeping himself very healthy while filming. No Hollywood slouch is he! He's treating his body right and obviously eating all of this veggies. And perhaps raw steaks, spinach and entire casks of creatine.

There are also lots of photos of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart and more behind-the-scenes stuff, too. Go to the LA Times Hollywood Backlot site and have a look at all the nice photos by David Strick.

And for one more Taylor shot, just peek after the jump. Happy Tuesday!

James Franco Isn't Gay that We Know of, But He May as Well Be? Read On...

400x350_JamesFranco
Loooooooooooves the gays. And their movies. A lot.

James Franco starred as Harvey Milk's boyfriend in Milk. His next role is playing gay beat poet Allen Ginsburg in Howl. That's all great. Two big gay roles in a row. Way to go!

Meanwhile, Franco's living in NYC and taking writing classes at Columbia University and film classes at NYU. A friend of mine saw his first student film that he directed a couple of months ago, and apparently it was the gayest thing ever, full of schoolboy longings and hot jocks picking on a skinny gay boy, but in a very homoerotic way. And now he's signed up for a Queer Cinema class at NYU. Woo-hoo!

Goodness. What did Gus Van Sant do to this lad?

Neil Patrick Harris: Best Emmy Host Ever? Watch His Brilliant Opening Number!

NeilPatHarrisEmmys

Last night's Emmy Awards was (gasp!) actually fun to watch thanks mainly to the zesty hosting job served up by the delightful, handsome and gay Neil Patrick Harris. He was zingy, smart, funny and sped things along fabulously. Awardees who hit the stage, from Survivor's Jeff Probst to The Daily Show's Jon Stewart (who's hosted a TV event or two himself) even took moments out of their valuable onstage time to praise NPH.

If you missed it, watch his fresh "Put Down the Remote" opening musical number below (which was penned by gay musical geniuses Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman). And yes, the big winners were 30 Rock and Mad Men and Grey Gardens, and some gay faves like Toni Colette and Cherry Jones won trophies too. Get a full list of winners at Emmys.com.

One last random note: After winning an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress on a comedy series, and then crying and gushing madly onstage, Kristin Chenoweth had to be tended to by paramedics called to the backstage area, due to some big migraine issues. She left the event and is said to be okay.

Stop the Presses! Project Runway Goes 100% Recycled

ModelsDon't light a match! These papered ladies could go up like kindling!

Episode 5: Paper Dolls

—by Eric Walter

Against my better judgment, I watched part of Lifetime's Models of the Runway yesterday. And I'm glad I did! I learned that Logan, who I named as last week's "Best Gay," is not actually gay. Or the models don't think so, anyway.

Well, no one's perfect. (I mean Logan.)

I still think he was the Best Gay last week. Let's just call Logan an honorary gay. Everyone deserves to be, don't you think? Why should we have all the fun?

Anyway, I have a feeling I'm not the first to bestow this title.

Butter-dressSo this week, we hit up an old-school Project Runway antic. Make a dress out of copies of the Los Angeles Times!

The winner will make headlines!

(And the loser will be wrapping tomorrow's fish and chips.)

Now, the best paper dress I can remember was worn in 1965 by Princess Kay of the Milky Way. (Princess Kay is crowned annually at the Minnesota State Fair.)

See right: It's made out of one-pound butter cartons!

The designers have their work cut out for them if they're going to surpass this genius.

As it turns out, it's a little harder than most people might think to fit a dress with paper. The material has no give. And it takes some solid engineering skills to get it off the dress form and on the model.

Workroom_altheaThe pattern Althea creates shines like she's working with plates of brass.

Workroom_gordanaGordana is off to a good start with a pleated bodice.

Workroom_irinaThis episode of Project Runway brought to you by ... Elmer's Glue.

The producers set up a nice little conflict between Nicolas and Johnny, and they end up in a bitter race to the bottom.

Last Night's Divas: Who Ruled? Kelly, J-Hud, Adele, Cyndi? Paula, Maybe? Who'd You Love?

450x320_KathyG&Paula
Remember this part when Kathy said "barebacking" on the air? How far we've come!

Last night was the big steaming DIVAS mess over on VH1; I was one of the clowns asked to participate in the whole live-blogging event, which was actually pretty fun. Getting to comment on Kathy Griffin's "barebacking" quips as part of one's job is always a good thing. But who else stood out, for better for worse? Was Paula lucid or not? Was it memorable or really diva-tastic?

WINNERS

KELLY CLARKSON
When Miss Clarkson takes the stage to just truly sing, she gives me chills. Her tune "Already Gone" is pretty gorgeous, and she performed it simply, admirably, just standing mid-stage and sangin'. I also loved her red hair and how it complemented her green plantation-worthy prom dress. But otherwise, her stylist should be fired.

Listen, I don't mind if my Kelly is chunky; but her "rock 'n' roll" outfit for the Melissa Etheridge duet at the end of the show was not flattering whatsoever. At all. Really. BUT, that said, I was living for the moment in her intro video package where Kelly talked about how she's morphed from being a singer into becoming an "empire." Now, THAT I love. It puts me in mind of Amanda from Melrose Place, or Dominique Devereaux on Dynasty. And imagining Kelly as a hard-driven, ruthless, shoulder-pad-wearing HBIC is truly fabulous.

450x320_J-HUD&Stevie
J-Hud and Stevie lead one fierce church service.

JENNIFER HUDSON
She looked gorgeous, though I kept trying to see if her sperm donor husband Punk was looming anywhere nearby (he is soooo not worthy of her), but never saw him. Her solo rendition of "Spotlight" was fine, but it was the duet w/J-Hud and Stevie Wonder on "All in Love Is Fair" that was truly bliss. Lordy -- by the time she hit that high note at the end, they had both taken me to church, baptized me, served me a full covered-dish luncheon and then drove me back home and rubbed my feet after. Divine! What would Jesus do? He'd have lived for this one.

More gay-tarded dish and pics from Divas after the jump!

This Week In Fabulous 9/18: Twilight Hunks, Singing Divas and Hot Out Actors!

Nphsmoulder
NPH's smoldering good looks beckon you to read this week's post!

--By Cory Stottlemyer

It's time once again for This Week In Fabulous, and boy, is there a lot to talk about. With the VMAs and the ensuing aftermath, MTV almost single-handedly ruled all that is pop culture this week. But don't worry, Kanye West does NOT make an appearance in this post!

5. Adult Swim skewers the Hills!

Any parody of the girls of the Hills is ok in my book.

Our friends at MTV's "The Daily Fresh" posted this parody of The Hills a little while ago and I am already in love with it. From Heidi's emotional breakdowns to the overly dramatic music, they were spot on in their portrayal of the show. Oh, and they also get mauled by the monsters from The Hills Have Eyes. Fabulous.

Hot out actors, singers who belt it out and singers who can rock it out after the jump!

Morningwood + White Tie Affair + Six Flags = Fun Concert Action? And Rides! And Gayness!

450x500_MorningwoodWhiteTie

Morningwood (top) and the boys from White Tie Affair wanna give you a twirl at Six Flags Magic Mountain in L.A. Are you tall enough for this ride?

Summer's over, but not in L.A. So get ready for one more fun summer-ish bash when Logo's NNN Concert Series hits Six Flags Magic Mountain on Friday, September 25th. The raucous kids from Morningwood and White Tie Affair will be headlining, and those identically cute DJs, The Perry Twins, will be spinning tunes, too. It's all part of a big gay-themed "Out on the Mountain" bash where the park throws a private party for the gays. Nice, right?

Anyway, the bash runs from 6pm - midnight, with the concert shows kicking off at 8pm. Last weekend, Six Flags up in SF hosted one of the shindigs, with party guys LMFAO and those tipsy Paradiso Girls headlining. Check out pics from that event after the jump. And watch some hot Morningwood & White Tie Affair vids, too!

For tix and more info, go here. You can also get a super-special iTunes NewNowNext Concert Series playlist, too.

Whitney Houston's "Million Dollar Bill" Video; Watch It Now! Is Your Dry Cleaners Like This?

Mizz Whitney Houston debuted her video for the official first single from I Look to You last evening. The result is a lovely, honey-colored video for the Alicia-Keys-penned "Million Dollar Bill" wherein she looks great onstage in various hot gowns as a random crowd of pretty 20-somethings lounge and dance around a posh/cool backroom club (that's apparently tucked secretly behind a dry cleaners/speakeasy restaurant that serves raw veggies? Okkaaaaay...).

Is it revolutionary? Nope. Shockingly fierce? Nuh-uh. But is it pretty and nice and just one more affirming small step back to pop normalcy? Yes, it is. Is that enough to maintain public interest? We'll see...

Either way, nice work Whit-Whit (and Clive), and to whomever art-directed this pleasant clip. Now bring on a c*nty remix, please!

Mika's "The Boy Who Knew Too Much" Album - Get a Preview! Plus, a Video Interview!

Mika's The Boy Who Knew Too Much comes out officially next Tuesday (Sept. 22), but you get a preview of the album on his own site, MikaSounds.com. AND, we've got a little exclusive clip of Mr. Mika himself dishing about one of the album's finer tunes "Rain."

Watch above to see Mika chat about how the song was inspired by a breakup, and his love of the gay-80s classic tune "Smalltown Boy" by Bronski Beat. Fab! And, er, I gotta say... I'm loving Mika's daffy orange housecoat and clunky jewelry. Sooooo festive!

You can also get a preview of The Boy Who... from The Sun (the UK newspaper). Enjoy, kids!

The Sun also has some scoop about Mika doling out £25,000 worth of drinks after promising fans free drinks out at his local pub. Ouch! But sweet, right?

Susan Boyle Covers the Rolling Stones. For Real! And It's Kind of Fabulous!!! Listen!

Britain's Got Talent champ Susan Boyle is expected to perform tonight on the big finale of America's Got Talent. AND, she's expected to serve up her cover of the Rolling Stones' classic "Wild Horses."

I know, I know... Wha? This frumpy old maid getting rock 'n' roll on us? But yes, she does. The tune was leaked online a few days ago. And it's pretty fabulous. Fabulous in that righteous Celine Dion/adult-contemporary vibe, but why not??? I'm loving it. Give it a listen, above.

"Wild Horses" has been covered many times before. I also love The Sundays' classic take on it. Check that one out after the jump!

Anyway, go Susan!!!

Lindsay Lohan at G-Star: Is she looking very relaxed? Or very, er... relapsed?

Fashion Week is going full-throttle in NYC. The celebs are out and posing up a storm. Here's a quick look at some of the hotness (and NOT-ness) that's out parading in the name of style and glamour these days...

Looks like G-Star and Baby Phat were both hot shows, judging from the attendees. Is Lindsay toasted? Or just giddy with fashion glee? Who can say, who can say...?

Enjoy lots more pics of kids from Gossip Girl, True Blood, one of Destiny's Children, Kathie Lee & Hoda, Amanda Lepore, some hot Project Runway mess-ness and more all after the jump!

Sliimy: Meet the New Gay French Pop Artist You Should Know!

This one comes via Perez Hilton, but check out the lil' Euro pop-star newbie, Sliimy! (The name rhymes with Jimmy, fyi.) It's like Mika and Christian Siriano had a little gay French baby!

Sliimy's album Paint Your Face is due out today. But there's more! Sliimy will be appearing on the Perez Hilton Presents Tour, he was the first artist signed to Perez's new label, he's opened for Katy Perry and Britney in Europe, and he's up for a MTV Europe award for Best European Act. Evidently, Sliimy hit it big in Europe with a cover of Britney's "Womanizer" and his artsy-crafty videos. And he's still just a wee pup, barely out of high school!

Watch tons of his videos on his own Sliimy site, and here's a cute interview with the gay French mag Yagg, in which Sliimy talks about coming out, music, Mika and more!

Check out a bunch of fun Sliimy pics after the jump!

Obama Calls Kanye a "Jackass"? Really?

KanyeObama

Random news which may or may not be for real: NY Magazine reports that President Obama called Kanye West a "jackass" (in an off-the-record remark) for West's behavior at the VMAs.

Classic. But really? Obama was watching the VMAs? Er... REALLY?

More importantly, how did the President feel about Lady Gaga's performance?

Driving Miss Gaga: The Lady Does NYC, Madonna & Marc Jacobs

450x300_DrivingMissGaga
Lady G pulls up to the bumper of the Marc Jacobs show.

OMG, Lady Gaga is killing me. Above is a shot of her arriving at the Marc Jacobs/V Magazine fashion week hootenanny last night in NYC. The hat! So club-kid goes dowdy... And she's peeking out of that limo like Miss Daisy pulling up to the Winn-Dixie or a ladies luncheon. Hotness.

In the pic below, Gaga poses with Marc Jacobs and Madge, and I love that she almost looks positively bored; and that Madonna looks smiley and amused. (BTW, Maddie's been in extra-nice mode of late. She even gave Gaga some props backstage at the VMAs.) And yes, MJ looks foxy, of course.

450x300_GagaMarcMadonna

Anyway, NY Mag has a dishy write-up about Gaga's pantless/nipple-tastic performance at the Marc Jacobs/V Magazine afterparty last night. Bless this woman. AND... The brilliant kids at MTV's Buzzworthy blog have a genius recap of Gaga's assorted VMA looks.

More, more, more Gaga puhleeeese!

R.I.P. Patrick Swayze, Long Live Vida Boheme!

Actor Patrick Swayze lost his battle with pancreatic cancer last night, passing away at age 57. The gallant star made such memorable films as The Outsiders, Red Dawn, Dirty Dancing, Roadhouse (yes, a classic), Point Break, Ghost and Donnie Darko. In his own way, he shone in all of them. But he also sparkled as a wise and winsome drag queen in To Wong Foo, Thanks Everything, Julie Newmar.

Enjoy the To Wong Foo trailer, above.

Mr. Swayze, you will be missed.

True Blood News: Denis O'Hare Joins Cast Next Season as the Vampire King of Mississippi!

370x530_DenisOHare

Last night was the big bloody fabulous finale of Season 2 of True Blood, so now its time for some Season 3 news. Fabulous out actor Denis O'Hare will be joining the cast as the Vampire King of Mississippi, reports Entertainment Weekly's dish-meister Michael Ausiello.

O'Hare -- who's starred in Milk, Duplicity, Garden State, Changeling, Michael Clayton, TV's Brothers & Sisters and a zillion other films, TV series and Broadway plays -- will evidently join the show early next season.

All I gotta say is "hurrah!" cuz Denis rules. In fact, he's even joined us here on NewNowNext.com before as a big special guest on this past winter's Oscar-obsessed "Best Supporting Vlog."

Queer Band Drama: The Cliks Split! Lesbian Band Members Bolt, and Frontman Lucas Explains It All!

450x300_Lucas-CliksSolo
Lucas Silveira: Founder and remaining member of The Cliks.

For the past few 2 years, the Toronto-based rockers The Cliks have practically been a poster-band for queer awesomeness. Their most recent line-up boasted transman Lucas Silveira at the helm, serving up vocals and guitar and all-around badass-ness. And flanking Lucas were lesbians Jen Benton on bass and Morgan Doctor on drums. The trio released their latest album, Dirty King this summer, and the title track's video has been playing all over Logo.

But now comes the news that Jen and Morgon have bolted and quit, making The Cliks a one-man band. For now. Today, the dudes over at Penetration posted an interview with Lucas giving us a rundown of all the breakup details. Basically, the kids weren't getting along and things took their course. But not before some booze-fuled fights and drama.

Says Lucas of how the big break-up came down: "Ooh snap-drama and drunken brawls were the initial stages pretty much. The final decision came through technology. Morgan was sensitive enough to do it through a text on her iPhone. Ha-ha. Jen quit one day after and she and I had a sit-down. It was emotional and difficult. Not many people understand the relationship band mates have with each other. IIt's like a marriage and just as in marriages, when you stop growing together, you know it’s time for divorce."

The Cliks, when they were three...

More quotes and inside drama after the jump. And the video for the band's latest, "Dirty King."

Watch "A Single Man" Trailer: Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Matthew Goode in Tom Ford's Directorial Debut

Fashion guru Tom Ford's first film has been screened at the big Venice Film Festival. A Single Man is based on the novel by gay literary legend Christopher Isherwood, and it tells the story of a day in the life of a middle-aged gay man living in 1960s L.A. The film's cast is amazing: Colin Firth stars in the lead role, with no less than Julianne Moore, Matthew Goode, Ginnifer Goodwin (Big Love), Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies), Nicholas Hoult (Skins) filling out the cast.

I wasn't convinced of Ford's filmmaking prowess (but his sense of style and visuals has never faltered) but so far, but A Single Man just snagged the Queer Lion trophy at Venice (for best gay film) so that's something. The film is also debuting today at the Toronto Film Fest, so expect more buzz.

The trailer, above, looks smolderingly sexy. Julianne Moore looks stunning, as do all the men featured. Love the big black glasses on Mr. Firth, too. Nice.

Watch A Sneak Peek Of Muse's New Video "Uprising" And Prepare Yourself For The Resistance!

-- By Arielle Baer

Muse's new album The Resistance may not be hitting stores until tomorrow (pre-order it here), but you can get an exclusive look at the video for the first single, "Uprising," right now!

It's hard to figure out exactly what's going on here. (The boys are escaping some kind of miniature city on fire? Sure!) So make sure to tune in for the World Premiere this Thursday on Logo so you can watch the whole thing.

The band is also touring the states this Fall with U2 and I highly recommend getting yourself some tickets. I saw them at Madison Square Garden a few years ago and it's still one of the best live shows I ever experienced!

VMAs Aftermath: Kanye, Taylor, Beyonce, Gaga & More!

B didn't win "Best Female Vid" but this live "Single Ladies" perf left no doubters out there...

The VMAs brought it last night, majorly. Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance of her "Best Female" trophy and the crowds on Facebook, Twitter and everywhere went bonkers with the Kayne-bashing. Watch the freaky moment after the jump. Kanye later apologized on his blog, but... Whatta mess!

Then, when Beyonce did win Video of the Year for "Single Ladies" she graciously invited Taylor Swift back onstage to fully complete her interrupted acceptance moment. Very classy, that Beyonce.

And we got a moving MJ tribute from Madonna, a MJ-tribute performance featuring Janet Jackson honoring her brother, and a bloody-fabulous peformance from Lady Gaga (and her fashions throughout the show were legendary brilliance), who also won the Best New Artist moon-man, saying she did it "for God and the Gays!" Pink served "Sober" and Taylor Swift took a subway ride for her "You Belong with Me" performance.

Jay-Z closed the show with a fantastic delivery of his new "Empire State of Mind," with a little help from Alicia Keys. (Now that's how a classy rapper does it!) But what the hell was Lil Mama doing up onstage at the end. Wha? Security!??!

More clips after the jump and on the VMAs site.

Watch The Return Of The Super Group! Live!

-- By Arielle Baer

Alison Mosshart (The Kills) doing vocals. Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age) on guitar and keyboard. Jack Lawrence (The Raconteurs) on bass and guitar. And Jack White (everything awesome in music) on...drums? (Don't worry he sings a bunch too.)

I was lucky enough to see The Dead Weather at their first live performance when they played NYC this summer. And then again when they came back after the release of their first album Horehound. And then again the next night. Some say "stalker." I prefer "enthusiast."

Check out the live video above for their second single, "Treat Me Like Your Mother," and you'll understand the obsession. The band's talent and grit have been captured in a batch of lives videos (check out the rest here) so you can enjoy their passion from the comfort of your living room.

Also, make sure to watch the very cozy interview we did with Alison Mosshart at the legendary Chelsea Hotel! Spoiler: She loves Gossip Girl too!

5. New Backstreet Boys music video!

Earlier this summer, we posted about the upcoming Backstreet Boys' new album and single, "Straight Through My Heart." Well, the boys have finally released a music video, and it looks like they're trying to ride on the coat tails of the vampire craze going on right now. It's possibly the cheesiest thing I've seen in a long time, but isn't that why we like BSB?

Project Runway Models Call the Shots

Designers-models
This week the models are the clients: The lucky 13 designers must
make their models an "eye-catching look for an industry event."

Episode 4: Who's the Boss?

—by Eric Walter

The simplicity of the challenges this season has me a little disappointed. I guess it goes to show you don't have to be working with garbage or car parts or groceries to come up with something that looks like crap. Fabric works just as well.

So the models this week get to choose what they wear for once. (Giving them their own show apparently wasn't enough.) Of course they go bonkers. They want to be unique and original and to stand out ... just like everyone else.

Most of the models have a pretty clear idea of what they want — or at the very least a list of adjectives. But some of them are all over the map. Make me every kind of dress — all at once! *snap*

Epperson reads some of his notes to a sympathetic Tim Gunn: "flowy, strong, punk, cocktail, tiger." It could be a bad Chinese translation of an American toilet cleaner brand. Whatever it is, if that's describing a dress, it already sounds like a disaster.

Epperson-model
Epperson consults with Mattar. Long but not too long; tight but
not too tight; revealing but not too revealing. Got it!

Gay Brothers to be Contestants on New Season of "Amazing Race!" Meet Them Now!

Brothers-Slash-Contestants Dan and Sam McMillen

-- By Jenny Hagel

CBS just announced contestants for the new season of The Amazing Race and - get this! - one of the teams is a pair of (handsome) gay brothers!

Dan and Sam McMillen of Liberty, Missouri are scheduled to compete in Season 15 of one of the greatest Travel Porn...er, reality shows of all time.

The McMillens, both students in their early twenties, were reportedly not that close until they came out to each other last summer. The guys claim they're not worried about flack from other contestants - as out gay Christians, they're used to defending themselves.

Wanna know more about the McMillen boys? Click above to hear them introduce themselves - and reveal their strategy for using their gayness (gayitude? gayosity?) to their advantage!

All in all, Dan and Sam seem like nice, normal, down-to-earth guys...which will make it even more of a shame when they freak out at 4am in an airport in Reykjavík over who ate the last Laufabrauð.

Season 15 of The Amazing Race premieres Sunday, Sept 27th at 8pm on CBS. Don't miss it!

Good luck Dan and Sam!

Help, I'm Addicted to Metric!

-- By Arielle Baer

Metric has finally released a video for their first single "Help, I'm Alive" and I seriously think it's going to get me sent to rehab. On the train. At work. At home. This song is on constant repeat on my iPod. My computer. In my head. And I still can't get enough!

Well, that is until I discovered this amazing acoustic version of the song on the band's myspace! Mmmm, twice the satisfaction.

At least I'm not the only one smitten with these Canadian indie darlings. Mike Shinoda (yes, the Linkin Park Mike Shinoda) recently posted his remix of "Gold Gun Girls", also off Metric's latest album, Fantasies. Just another way to help me get my Metric fix!

"This hand on my shoulder feels good. But not as good as Spandex..."

The Daily Beast has released a list of 25 Summer Viral Video Hits.

That's great for people who like to procrastinate at work – and even better for people who like The Jonas Brothers and Spandex!

Yeah, you heard me.

Number six on the Daily Beast list is a youtube video of Joe Jonas dancing (dare I say...prancing?) in full body Spandex and high heels while he lip syncs to Beyonce's Single Ladies.

Spandex. And high heels. Also - did I mention the Spandex and high heels?

Why would a teen heartthrob do such a thing??? Watch the video after the jump for JoJo’s explanation...

Take it off Levi!

Levi-etc

Levi (left) last year with John McCain and Bristol Palin (image via bpende on Flickr)

-by Jon Mallow

This story has been out there a while, and I can hardly believe that I'm still talking about this kid, and it's a little off topic for this blog, but who cares?  Levi Johnston is hot.  Really hot.  And he's been really hot since the first time I saw him.  Even if Sarah Palin was standing next to him.  Add Sarah Palin to anything and it gets a lot less hot for me, but even still Levi worked for me then and he works for me now.  So what if he's, um, not the sharpest tack in the box?

Anyway, Gawker is reporting that Levi is willing to pose semi-nude if the offer is right.  And apparently Playgirl has made an offer he's considering.  And that offer comes courtesy of New York gay nightlife and event maestro extraordinaire Daniel Nardicio.  OM-GAY-G.  It's too much.

Sadly, very, very, very sadly, Levi says he's only willing to strip down to his undies.  I would, of course, prefer the full monty, but I know Daniel Nardicio, and if anyone can get a young guy to take his underwear off it's Daniel.  So my fingers are crossed and I've still got hope!

"Sex and the City 2" to Feature Gay Wedding! Read More!

NNN SATC Slate

Ooooh! Artsy Photo!

-- By Jenny Hagel

Details about the plot of Sex and The City 2 have been tragically scarce. But according to a leaked shooting schedule it seems the sequel will include...a gay wedding!

The film’s schedule reportedly includes a scene in Connecticut between Stanford and Anthony, in which Anthony wears a tuxedo. And as we all know, Gay Men + Connecticut + Tuxedos = Wedding. (Or an a cappella performance at Yale.)

Auto-Tune Can Save the World!

UPDATE: THE VIDEO ABOVE IS NOT WORKING BUT CAN BE VIEWED ON MTV.COM. IT'S WORTH THE TRIP!

-- By Arielle Baer

If you haven't seen the utterly hilarious Auto-tuned news bits by The Gregory Brothers yet then you must be living under a rock. A really small rock somewhere that doesn't get internet access. Luckily, MTV's Alexa Chung is here to educate you - while wearing the smallest pair of leather shorts I've ever seen!

Along with discussing their mission to bring pop stardom to the nightly news, the Brothers made a special track for Ms. Chung to guest on with none other than President Obama.

Honestly, if all the news was broadcast this way I think our country would be much better informed. Don't you agree? I know I'd love to hear Andy Rooney's 60 Minutes segments auto-tuned. But maybe that's just me...
