“Logo Drama Club” – Episode 20: The High School Musical Theatre Awards With Kathie Lee Gifford

This week on Logo Drama Club we went to the National High School Musical Theater Awards hosted by Ms. Kathie Lee Gifford. The competition was fierce, sassy, and hit all of their musical buttons. During the evening, each of the nominated High Schoolers from schools across the country sang snippets from the roles they were nominated for. This included a Sweeney Todd/Pippin medley that I had no idea I’ve been waiting my entire life for. At the end of the night, Alexandria Payne and Kyle Selig took home the top honors of “Best Actor” and “Best Actress” along with some scholarships to NYU.

The awards ceremony, at the Marriot Marquis in Times Square, was also attended by a number of Broadway celebrities. We asked for some of their best High School theater memories, and got to the heart of whether or not Kathie Lee is a stage mom. Check it out!
