“The Shape Of Water” Leads With 13 Nominations For The 2018 Academy Awards

"Call Me By Your Name" didn't fare as well.

The Shape of Water came close to making Oscars history this morning. The fantasy film from Guillermo del Toro scored 13 Oscar nominations for the 90th Academy Awards, falling one short of the record 14 held by Titanic, All About Eve and La La Land.

Dunkirk received the second most nominations with eight.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri also continued its awards streak this morning. After snatching trophies at this year’s Golden Globes and SAG Awards, today the film written and directed by Martin McDonagh, received seven nominations.

Critical favorite Call Me By Your Name only nabbed four nods, for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Original Song and Best Screenplay.

Out writer-director James Ivory was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay for Call Me By Your Name, if he won at next month’s ceremony he would become the oldest Academy Award winner ever.
