30 Gay Men Discuss What The Word "Marriage" Means To Them
The good folks at The Cut assembled 30 gay men from various ages and walks of life and asked them each a simple question: "What does the word "marriage mean to you?"
Not surprisingly, the answers vary... from the highly romantic, idealized, to the more grounded (albeit often cynical).
It's perhaps unexpected to hear a more blasé attitude about marriage from the younger crowd, with one guy even opining, "I don't think marriage is something people necessarily think about anymore when they're in a relationship... just a title."
"It's a nice idea that we're all striving for, I don't necessarily think it's enough."
"Scary!"
Our favorite response? "I think everyone has the equal right to be happy...or miserable."
"Equality."
Considering last month's groundbreaking SCOTUS ruling, it's nice to know the option is there. And legal.
