Today, Davey Wavey discusses the rainbow flag, the international symbol of the LGBT community. San Francisco artist Gilbert Baker originally designed the flag in 1978 with eight stripes, but two—pink and turquoise—were removed to make production easier.
The remaining six stripes each have symbolic meaning: red (life), orange (healing), yellow (sunlight), green (nature), blue (harmony), and violet (spirit).
