5 Designers to Watch Out For During Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week is so close, so here are our top picks for designers to look out for (based on how they did last year):

Calvin Klein (Feb 14, 2pm, 3pm)

Back in 2012, CK was all about minimalism: thick black dresses with a single gold band cinching the waistline, proving once again that tasteful doesn’t have to mean boring, and that for those of us who refuse to show some skin when it’s 27 degrees out, there are still ways to look stylish and sleek.

Ralph Lauren (Feb 14, 10am, 11am)

With playful golden hues, cloche hats and bright argyle sweaters, Ralph Lauren’s Fall 2012 runway show was like Downton Abbey reimagined through Wes Anderson’s eyes, and injected some much-needed fun into fall.

Michael Kors (Feb 13, 10am)

The word “cozy” would suit pretty much every piece in Kors’ fall collection, which varied from lumberjack-like plaid coats and fur shawls to silhouette-gripping, turtleneck gowns.

Vera Wang (Feb 12, 11am)

Fall means putting away our florals and wearing more neutral tones, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a hint of personality in our clothes! Vera Wang masters this idea, with her last fall collection featuring black and beige ensembles peppered with bold pops of color and eye-catching embroidery and feather detailing.

Diane von Furstenberg (Feb 10, 4pm)

No wonder oxblood became such a trend this year – Diane von Furstenberg embraced that shade like no other, mixing it with brighter reds and creating a palette anyone could pull off.
