5 Interesting World Aids Day Activities

Often when an occasion like World Aids Day comes along, it’s easy to spend time thinking about the issue but more difficult coming up with things to do in relation to it. To help out, here’s a list of some cool, interesting things going on today that can help you learn more about the AIDS epidemic or contribute to organizations helping fight it.

  • Housing Works World Aids Day Visual Memorial – For this ongoing digital memorial, the staff and clients of Housing Works, an organization based in New York, are reading the names of people who have died of AIDS. You can head over to their site to watch the memorials or contribute your own names or personal story.

  • NAT Bake Aware – This British organization that originally helped create World Aids Day has an interesting feature on their site today of fun recipes and crafts that you can make, sell, and then use the proceeds to help support the organization’s work.

  • The AIDS Memorial Quilt – If you’re in the Los Angeles area you should head down to AIDS lifecycle to view the famous AIDS memorial quilt, something that’s definitely worth checking out in person.

  • The One Campaign AIDS Day Event – Head over to YouTube to watch the last three Presidents of the Unitesd States and celebrities like Bono and Alicia Keys talk sbout the current state of the AIDS epidemic. The event is currently live, and has been pretty fascinating so far.

  • Logo’s Red Ribbon Runway Auction – Go buy one of these dresses!! The proceeds go to NAPWA and red’s a perfect color for the holidays.
