6 Stabbed At Jerusalem Pride

At least six people were stabbed today at Jerusalem's annual Gay Pride Parade.

Emergency workers treated one woman who was critically injured, as well as several other men and women with less threatening wounds.

Yishai Shlissel, an ultra-orthodox Jewish man from the Haredi sect has been arrested for the attack. Shlissal was convicted of stabbing three people at a Jerusalem Pride in 2005 and was just released from prison after serving a 10 year sentence.

According to witnesses, Shlissel came up from behind the marchers and starting stabbing them while screaming. A police officer tackled him to the ground, but he had already injured a half-dozen participants.

Organizers decided to continue the Pride parade, which has been the source of controversy in the holy city since it premiered in 2002.
