69-Year-Old Father Murders Son For Being Gay

Now in custody, he's also believed to have stabbed his wife to death.

A San Fernando Valley man has been arrested after allegedly going on a bloody rampage and killing his wife and gay son.

Shehadeh Khalil Issa, 69, originally told police he found his wife stabbed to death in the bathroom of their home in North Hills. He claimed he heard noises and armed himself before going outside and encountering his son Amir, whom he claims threatened him with a knife.

Police say Issa shot his 29-year-old son with a his shotgun—not in self-defense, but because Amir was gay.

"He claimed [the son] was armed with a knife, and there was no knife to be found," homicide Detective John Doerbecker told the L.A. Daily News.

Father and son had been at odds for some time, and could be heard screaming at each other by neighbors. Amir's parents were reportedly trying to evict him from the house.

The D.A.'s office is pursuing hate crime charges against Issa, and says he had threatened to kill his son because of his orientation before.

If convicted, he could face life in prison without the possibility of parole.
