8 Women Who Could Replace Sherri Shepherd & Jenny McCarthy On "The View"
Now that Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy have gotten their walking papers from The View, the show will obviously have to find replacements. Rosie O'Donnell has already announced her return to TV's most watched henfest, but it's time for some new blood.
Below, we offer eight great candidates for The View—any two of which could outperform Shepherd and McCarthy. (Of course Grumpy Cat could outperform those two, but we digress.)
Lorraine Toussaint
As Vee, the manipulative sociopath on Orange is the New Black, Toussaint stood up to the ultimate prison badass, Red. We're pretty sure she could stand up to some nattering co-hosts.
Laverne Cox
Not to go to the OITNB well again, but Laverne has proven she has poise, charm and a voice she's not afraid to use. And she has daytime experience—she shined on Katie when presented with some pretty transphobic questions.
Katie Couric
Speaking of which: Couric is floundering solo, so she could join the ensemble and bring some hard-news experience lost when Barbara Walters exited.
Sofia Vergara
The Modern Family star is already in the ABC family, and can bring the crucial Latin demographic. Plus, we'll get to hear her kiki about her sex life with boyfriend Joe Manganiello.
Bianca Del Rio
The only reason Drag Race's reigning queen might not accept an offer to co-host is that it'd put her up against her beloved Judge Judy.
Meghan McCain
Since Elizabeth Hasselback's departure, The View needs a conservative to balance out Whoopi and Rosie. Meghan has shown star quality on Raising McCain and her views are reasoned, not kneejerk. (She's staunchly pro-gay, too.)
Joan Rivers
The View thrives on outrage—and Joan's got a steady supply of it. Plus, she's three years younger than Barbara Walters! (Just don't walk off the set, Joan.)
Portia de Rossi
If those divorce rumors are true, Portia's gonna need to get back to work. And how better to stick it to your ex than to beat her at her own game?
