This evening, The Bachelorette takes its signature brand of melodrama, romance and handsome men to what many argue really is Europe’s most romantic city (Sorry Paris!). Wether or not bachelorette Emily finds true love with any of her suitors on the storybook streets of Prague depends on how they play the game, but for you and whomever you’ve got a crush on, we’ve got some ideas on how to play the game right as you take your bubbling romance to this idyllic little city.
1. Aria Hotel
Each of the 51 rooms in this 5 star hotel are inspired by a different kind of music, artist or composer. Hence the name. Wandering the hotel can be more than a little magical—there’s a UNESCO World Heritage designated private garden that’s just for guests and a brilliant rooftop terrace that makes the city the perfect backdrop for love. For a more sensual experience? Check out the hotel’s luxurious La Prairie Spa.
This is pretty much the most important castle in all of the Czech Republic and also one of the most gorgeous. Weddings happen here and so do movies (of note—Wanted, The Brothers Grimm, Joan of Arc, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian). When you’re done being all lovey-dovey, you can take it to the dark side in the castles legendary prison and torture chamber. If that’s your speed.
3. Sychrov Chateau
Antonín Dvorak used to crash in this 17th century neo-Gothic wonderland featuring some of the areas most notable carved ornaments. It also houses one of the largest collection of French portraits in Europe and gets a romantic nod for its lovely English park that’s perfect for sitting and staring lovingly into your partner’s eyes.
Sipping on Czech wine from the terrace on this old castle-cum-restaurant with wide-open views of the entire city of Prague, you’ll realize why the romance of Prague is so often compared to that of Paris. Get there with enough time to check out St. Wenceslas Vineyard and ask to see the wine cellar that was carved into the rock on which Prague Castle stands.
5. Boat tour through the city
What is it about being on a boat in a river in a mideval city that’s just romantic? Wait. The question answers itself. Take your love on a boat tour through the city. Prague Boats is reputable and Private Prague Guide offers, as you might guess, private boat tours, even at night.
Take a break from the city, grab a horse and ride back through time. Just not for too long or you won’t have that romantic of an evening. Magical Prague offers hour long excisions.
The World Luxury Spa Awards (Yes, such a thing exists) awarded this place its top honors for 2012. You can opt to stay in the gorgeous, 5-star, eco friendly hotel or just book yourself for a day at the spa. Either way you go, this is pure class.
8. Stroll the city center in the morning
Throw chance to the wind. Wander around the city center and its famed cobblestone streets with your lover before the city wakes up and see where the day leads
9. Hot Chocolaet at Café Louvre
Having been open since 1902 and a favorite of Franz Kafka, you both can break your diet together and get the unbelievably rich hot chocolate. Its killer.
