Jem and the Holograms was everything in the 80s and the syndicated early 90s: Glamour! And glitter! Fashion! And fame! These are all things I'm openly pursuing in my adult life, so I audibly gasped when I heard a Jem and the Holograms live-action movie was in the works, courtesy of Justin Bieber BFF Scooter Braun and G.I. Joe director Jon M. Chu.

To whet fan appetites (or further lower expectations) the powers-that-be just released this promo shot featuring the stars of the movie:  Nashville's Aubrey Peeples will step into Jerrica Benton, a.k.a. Jem, while Stefanie Scott (Disney's Ant Farm) will play redhead keytarist Kimber, Hayley Kiyoko (The Fosters) is blue-haired guitarist Aja and Pretty Little Liars' Aurora Perrineau is purple-haired drummer Shana.

Pardon my Synergy, but where's the glamour? Where's the Glitter? Where's the fashion and/or fame?

Then again, it's too early to heap too much shade. At the end of the day this is a show about a girl with a holographic computer that turns her into a rock star that shops at Hot Topic.
