Gay Artist Has “Make America Great Again” Tattooed On His Butthole

"We must use our body as a weapon of empowerment."

A queer performance artist has had Donald Trump’s infamous campaign slogan tattooed right on his anus.

Spanish artist Abel Azcona got the tattoo in front of an engrossed audience at the Defibrillator Gallery in Chicago, where he crouched naked for two hours as a tattoo artist stenciled in the words.

After the performance was over, Azcona spread his cheeks to show that he’d had the iconic “Make America Great Again” message permanently tattooed in a tight circle around his butthole, with stars at the beginning and end for added flair. Go here to see the NSFW tattoo.

Azcona, who has exhibited his work in 45 different countries, told PinkNews that the way Trump is treating the U.S. is comparable to his own experiences of sexual abuse as a child.

He recalled being “adopted by an ultra-conservative family” after his mother left him, where he’d eventually suffer “multiple experiences of sexual abuse and child abuse.”

“The motto I have tattooed in my anus is a fascist motto,” he explained. “A motto that makes the ultra-Catholic church, the patriarchy and people as despicable as Donald Trump [able to] abuse and use us however they want.”

That he put the motto around his anus was a deliberate and specific choice.

“I always worked my body as a weapon and a political tool,” Azcona told the Huffington Post. “I believe in the empowerment of the body and of the pain. The anus is a pleasure zone for many people, and an area of sin for others. I think demystifying what the anus is, and writing a fascist political motto like that in my anus, is a clearly critical and subversive action.”

“We must attack. We must use our body as a weapon of empowerment,” he concluded. “We are faggots, women, Mexicans, blacks and different. And we are brave. Art is the greatest critical, social and political weapon I know.”
