Here’s a fun news item we couldn’t resist passing along!
Those very hip and gay-friendly folks behind the smart and savvy chain of Ace Hotels — with outposts in Portland, Seattle, Palm Springs and most recently New York City — have enlisted the connoisseurs of smutty/arty gay culture at Butt Magazine to curate the programming of their in-house on-demand gay adult TV channel in the New York and Palm Springs locations.
In a statement, the editors of Butt revealed that “the always innovative Ace Hotel approached us to curate a program of amazing gay porn for their adult on-demand service at the Ace Hotel New York and Ace Hotel & Swim Club Palm Springs. In order to create the ideal experience for the cultured hotel homo, our staff selected 16 films we love that present a historic timeline of the best that gay porn has to offer, with a spotlight on our personal obsessions. The films will launch as part of the Ace’s video-on-demand system on November 1st, 2009.”
Also, the Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs will be co-hosting a Gay Pride Weekend from November 6-8, with special events and screenings of some of the Butt staffers’ favorite classic gay adult flicks.
So what’ll be on offer on Butt‘s gay-for-pay TV channel at the Ace Hotels? Think a range of classics from the 70s, 80s and 90s (works by William Higgins, Matt Sterling, Bruce LaBruce), more recent works from Titan Media and even a 3-D title. (Glasses included, one hopes.)
Kudos to the folks at Ace Hotels for recognizing a good niche market when they see it.
