A housekeeping note - You may have noticed a lack of posts on The Backlot page. Going forward, the TBL page will be just for the regular TBL columns (Briefs, soaps), and the few recaps we still do. You'll be able to find standalone posts from TBL writers on the main NNN page, along with the fabulous work that our colleagues at NNN do.

But I will feature links to the best that the main page has to offer everyday in Briefs, so ...

Joe Biden announces he is not running for President.

“Unfortunately, I believe we’re out of time—the time necessary to mount a winning campaign for the nomination,” he said. “While I will not be a candidate, I will not be silent.” "

Milan Christopher is a rapper who is gay, not a gay rapper (and yes, there is a difference). Does he feel squeamishness from other rappers he's been around in terms of not wanting to be associated with someone gay?

"Of course. It’s 2015, but things haven’t really changed. I’ve worked with artists who are actually gay and live to the public as though they are straight. We’re friends, and we take no pictures together, we don’t follow each other, because of what people think about homosexuality in our community. It’s like the biggest defamation or derogatory term used in the African American hip-hop culture so they don’t want to be involved or associated with someone who is openly gay because it ultimately affects their brand."

And here's The Weekly ShoutOUT™. Each week we're going to focus on one out athlete/performer and feature a daily pic and career timeline. Three years ago I presented my personal favorite Briefs list, The 100 Greatest Lost Hits of The 80's, and because if there's one thing Hollywood has taught us, it's that sequels and reboots and remakes are ALWAYS better then the original, we're going to the well again with The 100 Greatest Lost Hits of The 80's Part 2: The Even More Forgotten

We'll be spotlighting 100 more of the greatest minor hits of the decade, the songs you don’t hear on any 80’s nostalgia show. Songs that missed the top ten, or top twenty … or top forty. Hopefully these forgotten gems may ring a long dormant bell, or for younger readers, provide a pop music history lesson.

At #83 is "Square Rooms" by Al Corley

Al Corley starred in the groundbreaking gay role of Steven Carrington on the first two seasons of Dynasty, and left, due in part, to the character's "shifting sexuality," and relocated to Europe, where he released his first album Square Rooms. The title track was an enormous hit in France, where it spent five weeks at #1, but on the U.S. chart it petered out at #80 in June 1985.
