Adam Lambert Wants to Play George Michael in a Biopic

"Yeah, sign me up."

He's gotta have faith.

Adam Lambert tours as lead vocalist with the remaining members of Queen, stepping in for late legend Freddie Mercury, but it sounds like he's eyeing another pair of big gay shoes to fill.

"I’d like to see a George Michael biopic," Lambert tells Metro. "I think that would be very interesting. That’d be cool, I just feel like, we don’t know that much about him. You know, to me, it would be great to kind of explore George’s life."

And who should play Michael in this biopic? "I’d give it a go," the 38-year-old American Idol alum says, laughing. "Yeah, sign me up."

Lambert made an uncredited cameo in the Oscar-nominated Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. His other acting credits include Glee and The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again.

This week the Grammy-nominated singer released his fourth studio album, Velvet, his first solo album in almost five years. His Las Vegas mini-residency, scheduled for next month, has been postponed due to the coronavirus crisis.

Last year Lambert shared an emotional letter to fans on social media that detailed his mental health struggles and how he ultimately pulled himself “out of the darkness.”

Michael first had success as half of '80s pop duo Wham! and went on to become one of the most successful solo artists of all time, selling more than 100 million records. The Grammy-winning pop icon died Christmas Day 2016 at 53 from dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver, according to the coroner’s report.
