Adele Is Dropping New Album, Mads Mikkelsen A "Doctor Strange" Villain?, Nadal Plays Strip Tennis: MEME

Tyler Oakley is destroying culture, Macklemore drops incomprehensible video, Miley Cyrus named worst influence on children

Mads Mikkelsen is said to be in early negotiations to play the villain in Doctor Strange opposite Benedict Cumberbatch. We already know he can play evil, and a bit otherworldly, so this could work.

Pennsylvania Democrats including sexy Brian Sims have introduced a sweeping LGBT rights bill that provides for protections in housing, employment and public accommodations. It's going to be tough to pass with both houses controlled by Republicans, but the Pennsylvania Republicans have been close to showing some sense in the past.

In a new poll of British parents, Miley Cyrus has topped the list of bad female celebrity influences worldwide, and it's not even close. Miley was named as a bad influence by 78%, with Nicki Minaj a distant second with 54%, and Kim Kardashian at 43%. Kanye West topped the poll for men, followed by Justin Bieber and Zayn Malik.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton had to appear in person to be arraigned on felony charges related to securities fraud after a judge told him he couldn't do it by mail. In more bad news, after he entered his "not Guilty" plea, his lawyer petitioned the court to be released from the case.

Thanks to Siri's teasing, we now know for certain that Apple's announcement for the next iPhone will take place September 9. Possible upgrades include a serious new camera, force touch screens, and more. This is my upgrade cycle, so I'll be watching this to make sure it's what I want.

According to XL Records, Adele's next album will drop in November, and they should know since they're releasing it. Sorry to all the other artists who hoped to have a #1 album in 2016, the slot's taken.

The Roanoke, Virginia gunman supposedly was a gay escort in his past to make ends meet, which isn't relevant to the story of why he killed two former coworkers on air, but the right wing certainly finds that relevant, along with the rainbow flag they took from his apartment.

In the past I've admitted that I just don't get the fascination with YouTube stars like Tyler Oakley, but that I'm not the target audience. But this piece from the New York Post entitled These Self-Important YouTube Idiots Are Destroying Culture seems a bit over the top.

Donald Trump was asked how he'd explain his opposition to marriage equality to a gay kid or a gay grandkid, and he provided a poitnless non-answer just like he's done with every issue he's talked about in the campaign so far. "Well it’s the way it is. I wouldn’t speak to them at all about it other than they are who they are and I want them to be happy and will love them and cherish them…I’ve gone to gay weddings. I’ve been at gay weddings. I have been against [gay marriage] from the standpoint of Bible, from the standpoint of my teachings as growing up and going to sunday school and going to church and I’ve been opposed to it and we’ll just see how it all comes out."

The office of Kim Davis again turned away a same-sex couple seeking a marriage license, a day after the Sixth Circuit denied her a stay on the ruling ordering her to do so. The office claimed that they believed their temporary stay was in place until August 31 even though it clearly said August 31 or until the Sixth Circuit acted. Kim Davis hid in her office while someone else denied the license. She plans to appeal the case to the Supreme Court, where she's not going to find enough friends to help her. Even Scalia has said in the past that religious beliefs aren't enough to not do your job.

Ellen Page took on Senator Ted Cruz for his opposition to equality, and Cruz isn't happy with her. “What we’re seeing right now is this liberal fascism and intolerance, where their object is to persecute, to punish, to fine any Bible-following Christian or believer that believes in the Biblical definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman.” Honestly, no. What we're seeing is a concerted effort to show the world what pathetic human beings you are, and you keep obliging. We're just trying to make sure you keep talking.

The Aurora, Colorado theater shooter James Holmes has received twelve life terms in prison and an additional 3,318 years in jail. It is the fourth longest prison sentence in U.S. history.

Part of the information that was revealed in the AshelyMadison.com hack is that last year it discussed purchasing Grindr, and reveals quite a bit about Grindr's finances in the process. Grindr took in $31 million in 2014 with an EBIDTA of $14 million. The initial price tag discussed for a 51% share was $100 million, with negotiations bringing that down into the $70 million range. I have never met anyone that pays for Grindr, but 324,000 people do. It wouldn't be worth it in my geography. Do any of you pay for premium?

Tyler the Creator says that he's been banned from entering the UK because of his past homophobic lyrics. His manager Christian Clancy says as a result of the 2009 lyrics, “Tyler has been banned from entering the UK for somewhere between 3 to 5 years per a letter from the Secretary of State for the Home [Office] of the United Kingdom." He goes on to say it's a matter of free speech, but admits “I’m not defending his OLD lyrics. To be honest they make me cringe, but I stand beside him because of who he actually IS.” Tyler has said in the past his anti-gay lyrics aren't about being gay, but about being stupid, and was supportive when his collaborator Frank Ocean came out.

After banning a series of LGBT inclusive children's books and incurring the wrath of Sir Elton John for doing it, Venice mayor Luigi Brugnaro has banned Pride parades. There will never be a gay pride in my city. Let them go and do it in Milan, or in front of their own homes.” He also calls the parades the “height of kitsch” which is hard to argue with.

We're barely three quarters through 2015, but Tom Daley wants to take us behind the scenes for his 2016 calendar shoot. It looks like he's more clothed than I remember him being in previous years, but when the shirt does come off, his abs are in world class shape. I envy guys that can get that deep vertical line.

Focus on the Family takes us to the rally supporting rebellious county clerks in Kentucky who don't want to follow the law and don't want to do the jobs they're paid to do. They frame it all as a propaganda job from the media, and also that the people at the rally are risking their jobs just by being seen there. They may be risking their dignity, but I think their jobs are safe. It is Kentucky after all, and the cause they're supporting is someone not doing their job at all and still getting to keep it.

We had a tease from Jane Lynch the other day of Rafael Nadal playing strip tennis with some supermodels, and now we have the video. I don't like that they didn't play to the end. Everybody knows that strip anything goes one turn past when the loser is naked, and then has to perform a task of the winner's choosing.

I don't even know what to say about Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' "Downtown." The song is silly and the video is completely ridiculous, but it does include old schoolers like Melle Mel, Kool Moe Dee, Grandmaster Caz & Eric Nally.
