Adele's "25" On Track To Best "Oops!... I Did It Again" As Fastest-Selling Female Album In History

Sorry, Britney.

Adele didn't just come here to say "Hello," while she's here, she might as well set some records.

According to the Billboard Hot 100, Adele's "Hello" will enter the charts at No. 1, setting a record for the most U.S. downloads sold in a single week (1.11 million) and becoming the first song ever to sell at least 1 million downloads in that time frame.

Asked to comment on her slayage, Adele had this to say:

But what about the album that "Hello" is helping to buoy? Can 25 manage to outsell Britney Spears' sophomoric triumph?

Brit-Brit's Oops!... I Did It Again has held onto its title as the fastest-selling album since it came out in 2000. While Taylor Swift's 1989 blew projections out of the water, it fell 32K short of besting Spears' behemoth record.

Billboard's current projections for 25 are between 1.3 and 1.8 million. Translation: At it's lowest projection, Adele would still knock Britney of her title.

As for Adele's chances of becoming the de facto fastest-selling album in history? It's not entirely impossible. 'N Sync's 2000 LP No Strings Attached debuted with a staggering 2.4 million.

Though that number remains hard to touch, if anyone can do it, we'd put our money on Adele.

25 drops on November 20.
