Logo TV, announced today that actress and comedian Aisha Tyler will serve as host for this year’s Logo NewNowNext Awards 2013 premiering Monday, April 15th at 10/9C on Logo. Additionally, international powerhouse Ke$ha, whose brand-new MTV docu-series Ke$ha: My Crazy Beautiful Life is set to premiere on April 23 and whose North American tour is going on sale this Friday (3/29), is locked and loaded to perform. Indie rock sensations Tegan and Sara will also be performing and in the coming weeks more performers, presenters and special guests will be announced.
This year’s newly-anointed host, Aisha Tyler, commented, “The NNN Awards have broken huge names, from Gaga to Raja. The show is always edgy, outrageous, brave and brash — you never know what’s going to happen next! I am a huge supporter of LGBT rights and I am thrilled and honored to have been invited to ringmaster what I know will be the fiercest and most sickening awards show ever!”
Now in its sixth year, Logo’s NewNowNext Awards have earned a reputation for breaking new ground in pop culture. The highly praised and always unpredictable telecast is one big party that grants the gay stamp of approval to pop culture icons and trendsetters as well as stars-on-the-rise and celebrates what’s hot in TV, music, film and fashion for 2013 and beyond. Lady Gaga gave her first televised performance at the show, Rooney Mara was a nominee well before an Oscar Nominee, the cast of Bridesmaids made their first televised appearance together at the 2011 show and last year, NewNowNext crowned Josh Hutcherson “Next Mega-Star” long before The Hunger Games movie was a phenomenon. “I’m so excited to perform at Logo’s NewNowNext Awards,” said Ke$ha. “The channel is obviously a huge supporter of equal and gay rights, which is so important to me, and I’m really stoked to party with them!”
Winners will be revealed Monday, April 15th at 10/9C, during the 90-minute “Logo NewNowNext Awards 2013” telecast. The special will be taped in front of a live audience of today’s hottest emerging and seasoned artists at The Fonda Theater in Hollywood, CA on April 13th.
