The Winner Of "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars" Talks Victory, New Music And All That Drama

"There's a 'Golden Girls' toilet seat on Etsy that I really want."

Last night, America watched as Alaska was crowned the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, joining a pantheon of drag superstars and sashaying away with a $100,000 prize.

We sat down with our reigning monarch to talk about the season, how the show has changed since she debuted in Season 5, and how she's going to spend her winnings.

Condragulations! How does it feel to be America's newest drag superstar?

I feel kind of gassy, but mostly very proud and empowered. Also I feel like demanding someone bring me a coffee or something.

How has Drag Race changed since your season?

It truly gets better every season, I think. And I think the fan following gets bigger and crazier every season. I want more! I want to be the football team with people painting their face and writing things about us on their chest. Why not?

A lot of that is due to the producers and folks at WOW and Logo, who really mix it up and turn up the volume every year.

Speaking of turning up the volume, what did you think about this season's elimination twist?

America got to hear about it ahead of time in the commercials, but we literally didn't know what to expect. It was a huge bomb. There were tears, there were fears. There were tears for fears.

Did it kind of ruin any strategy you came to the show with?

Well, you can only prepare so much for Drag Race. You can bring your sickest outfits and work on your skills, but at the end of the day there's nothing that can really prepare you for it.

I just tried to make the best decisions I could. I wasn't—and I don't think anyone was this season—trying to play games or be shady or evil.

When you walked into the workroom the first day, you did you clock as your biggest competition?

Well, Roxxxy Andrews for one. The Haus of Andrews has invented a whole kind of glamorous drag, and she was my competition in my season, so I was definitely intimidated.

And Alyssa Edwards is a darling of the Drag Race fans, so I was worried about her. Honestly, they were all intimidating—they're All Stars!

What was your favorite challenge this season?

I enjoyed the reading challenge, of course—I'm into it, its fun.

And Snatch Game. Its a fun place to be and interact with RuPaul and the other queens.

There was tension and drama this season, for sure. How are you with all the other queens now that the season is over?

Ive deleted them all from my phone and blocked them all on Twitter. No, I'm kidding. There's a lot of drama that happens on television. But then you have to move on.

We've had this amazing, insane unique experience—we're the only people who know what its like. We are all bonded. I consider them my sisters.

And we all work together, so you have to make it work. Otherwise it's like keeping beta fish in separate tanks.

If you were casting RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 3, which queens would you want to see in it?

Kennedy Davenport, Trixie, Shangela, Gia Gun, Laganja Estraja—and Victoria Parker!

We were living for your first album, Anus. When are we going to get more music from Alaska?

Well, I was kidnapped like Kim Kardashian by Lil' Poundcake, who forced me to record a new album—and she made me name it after her.

It's a vile collection of perverse filth that I warn young people and people with heart conditions not to listen to.

Its called Poundcake and its out today.

What are you going to do with the $100,000 prize?

I really want to buy a throne. There's a Golden Girls toilet seat on Etsy that I really want.

Beyond that, I don't know. I might be like Whitney Houston and go to Disney World.

Alaska's new album, Poundcake, is out now. See her and the other All Stars at the RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars reunion special, October 27 at 8/7c on Logo.
